The book was better. As someone who grew up in the 80s, it was cool.
The book would have been a licensing nightmare to adapt which is why Spielberg swapped out most of it for his stuff. Still felt cheap though
I haven’t read the book but in the video he reads excerpts from it and it sounds painful.
He could just be picking a couple of cases that are paticularly egregious, but still, if it’s emblomatic of the books prose, then it sounds like it’s very similar to the movie and not something I’d enjoy.
So said and done, if you enjoyed it, that’s dope, same for the movie. I don’t care how “bad” or “good” some form of media is claimed to be, as long as people enjoy it, that’s a good thing
It’s hilarious to see edgy, critic-wannabe titles like that, and then the in first lines of the description they’re shilling for the same shitty mobile games every other garbage content creator is pushing. Glass houses and all that.

You get I’m not talking about the video ads, right?
Book was great. Movie was meh
Sure, the movie wasn’t all that great, story wise, but it was very entertaining. I enjoyed it.
Disagree. RPO was a joyful experience.
Loved both the book and the movie, and particularly that they were so disparate. We got to enjoy two different stories, basically.
That thing they used to run on in Ready Player One is actually referenced pretty often when VR is talked about. Omnidirectional platform or something. I think that black tech youtuber (his name end in HD) also mentioned it in one of his videos when he went to Disney where they are testing a different design but with the same goal.
Honestly, if they made that thing, it would be pretty cool.
Omnidirectional treadmill
There are several companies working on them or even selling them. But they all suck in different ways or are not something that can be used or bought by an average user
Did they make something like in the film? That looked pretty workable.
The closest one I know of is the one that you mentioned
But even they have big drawbacks (slow and very bulky)
Love Pointless Hub.
He’s a lot more gentle on the movie than I would have been, I thought it was just Bland boring fluff. Of course he’s a little more harsh in the book than I am, which admittedly was a tough read. I mean that was one of those books where I enjoyed aspects of it but in general I think I rolled my eyes so much reading it that they hurt for days afterwards.
