Staff at the US embassy in Copenhagen have removed 44 flags decorated with the names of Danish soldiers that were killed in Afghanistan, put up after US President Donald Trump’s recent criticism of allied countries’ military contributions.

Copenhagen’s mayor for environmental affairs, Line Barfoed called the move “disrespectful”

    More disrespect from Washington DC.
They also removed plaques commemorating black soldiers during WW2 at the U.S. cemetery in the Dutch town of Margraten.

Captain Bonespurs needs to shut up about veterans

I haven’t seen them and I doubt they were obtrusive in any way, but I don’t think it’s generally allowed for people to decorate government facilities in this manner without approval, though I get it.

Having said that, the US ambassador could have turned this into an amazing show of camaraderie if they used this as an opportunity to push for an official monument or dedication to the fallen soldiers within the embassy.

I blame Denmark for this. The embassy claimed afterwards that they didn’t know what the flags were about - even though the meaning of the flags was explained to them that same day while they were being placed.

Lol Danes thinking that US officials have respect or engage synapses!
