Had to check and I was migrated as well. Honestly, I didn’t even notice it because the bottom icon bar is standard in many Android apps since many years (even Google+ had it). The collapsible sidebar is a relic of ancient times. I don’t think making the icon car pill shaped is necessarily the same as liquid glass. The iPad I have to use for work has a much more obnoxious UI.
As someone who likes blur design and liquid glass. Its cool.
I checked and my client has this UI. But, the blur is so opaque I did not notice the blur even though I have been on the redesign for a while.

Its not liquid glass but is similar and inspired by Apple’s design language.
They should’ve made the layout sleek so it felt more modern.
Personally, they should’ve went all in or used android’s Material Expressive themes. Telegram’s current design is not that good.
