This man is a whole-ass billionaire with his own studio. There is literally no reason for his films to be as bad and cheap-looking as they are when Dhar Mann has better-looking sets. You know you messed up when Dhar Mann doesn’t even have half the money Tyler has. This man came from poverty and is now a billionaire—he owes the Black community better films, and they should want better-quality films from him too.

This is the Tyler Perry Story:
He went around black churches putting on shows. The content wasn’t thought provoking, it was comfort food. He built a mailing list from the churchgoers, mainly old women. Whenever a show came through town, they would see it, whatever it was. He didn’t need reviews, he had the mailing list.
He started making videos. He didn’t need promotion, didn’t need reviews, he had the mailing list. Those old black church women would buy everything that nice young man released.
So here’s the Perry method: make things cheap and quickly enough that he has a constant flow of product to sell, and by the time the mailing list has bought their copies, he’s already in profit. Quality is not a part of the method. He only has time to write one draft of the scripts.
His movies are comfort for me. Nothing like smoking and putting them on
