I’d like to learn what people in their field think of when they see something good or bad when they’re not working.
I’m a health inspector, so when I am sitting at a table as a customer, I’ll watch people while I’m eating (not purposely staring, but having a look around the place). I recently saw someone swipe their finger under their nose then go to the self serve station to touch about 8 different handles before walking away. Thankfully, I was already done eating.
When I have to walk through the kitchen to the toilets, I take mental notes without meaning to.
As a ex-first responder, unconsciously doing an assessment of someone I’m speaking to (or not) and internally noting how nice and juicy their veins are.
What are some things you come across in your daily life and what do they have you thinking about?

My grandma was a nurse and working with kids and never touched hand rails and always washed her hands when she came home.
Do you touch hand rails if not absolutely necessary, or not wash your hands when you come home? That sounds disgusting!
I touch hand rails. And i never wash my hands immediately upon entering my home unless I’ve just been shopping. I don’t get sick almost ever. Is the idea that this prevents you from getting sick or just that it helps you not to feel gross?
Of course 2 years ago I had a child, I touch as little as possible in public, I wash my hands constantly while out and at home. I am sick all the time. The child doesn’t go to daycare and we don’t go to church but we’re all sick several times a year.
I’m the same. I don’t touch hand rails, handles, escalator belts (?). Honestly, of the hundreds and thousands of people who touch them every day, how many of them have not contaminated their hands in some way before touching those surfaces? I can guarantee nearly 100% of them, and a large portion of them won’t have washed their hands properly after using the toilet.
