I mean, the moment they make you pledge something about liberty, you know it’s phony. You are either free or you have to recite the pledge. You can’t have both liberty and mandate for the same thing.

They don’t make you, they just socially pressure you. I stopped in high school when Germans on the internet convinced me it was uncomfortably nationalistic.

Here in Canada we used to sing “God Save Our Gracious Queen” after first bell, every morning. God didn’t listen to our singing. /s

    Here’s an excellent explainer:

Its a lie beaten into our heads so the class war can continue without the masses realizing its being waged!

Heh. Get it? Waged? Heh. Seriously, help us Europeans.

Or, seriously, demand better. It is amazing how Americans are willing to say “that’s not how we do it here” instead of demanding more. Quit spending your down time playing games and hiding from life on social media and protest. Join political groups. Run for office. Put some skin in the game instead of complaining from the sidelines about how it isn’t working.

I do help, and have put my skin and reputation on the line in a deeply red district. I thought about running for Mayor and climbing the political ladder learning about my state before, but I suffered a serious life disabling traumatic brain injury. I dont think Im the best candidate for anything, but with that on top of it, I cant justify running for any office.

I have a very public-facing job and I am very outspoken about tax issues and things hurting us and helping the wealthy ridiculously (people only believe it when it happens to them, and taxes hit our lovely local racists too). Ive completely changed some minds, and Ive definitely changed how a fair few people look at Fox entertainment news. Socially speaking, I do have skin in the game.

I wish I could do more, but I legally cant drive, my eyes do not function properly, in-person speech is very difficult due to TBI induced stuttering and word recollection issues. I protest when I can, but I cant walk far without a cane, or at this point, a wheelchair, so its hard to go on my own.

I do spend a lot of time playing games, though. I wish I could walk farther and didnt have the health problems I have.

Oh y’all actually did that? When I first moved to the US, I was freaked the fuck out and just sat there. And then continued to do just that every morning for the rest of my short public school career.

    I didn’t have many friends…
