Game OSTs I’ve gone out of my way to acquire at some point or another:
Diablo II (I think it was specifically the new Tristram song that made me do it, but all the hours I put into that game led to all of them being on my playlist at the time)
FFVII (haven’t played the game in decades but I still randomly start humming or singing some of these songs)
Zelda: OOT (same as FFVII but even more so)
Metroid Prime (this game has the genre defining music for lava and winter stages IMO, and if I had to pick a top one, I’d probably pick this one)
Subnautica (this soundtrack was perfect for the game, plus the extra songs you could play in the jukebox were great, and I loved that you could listen to them on the go in the second game)
Sanctum/Satisfactory (they are connected in my mind because playing Satisfactory was where I was first exposed to Sanctum’s music)
Risk of Rain (curious if this one would be enjoyed by people who haven’t played the games… Anyone willing to do so, listen to The Rain Formerly Known as Purple and let me know if it still sounds awesome without it also meaning you’ve made it through 4 or so levels to hear it)
Also, honourable mentions for every Guitar Hero and Rock Band game for exposing me to a lot of great non-game music that I hadn’t otherwise been exposed to, as well as let me pretend to play along with ones I already loved and gain more tolerance/appreciation for ones I didn’t really like before. Green Grass and High Tides and Through the Fire and Flames especially.
And Rocksmith for doing that except with a real guitar and I didn’t get as advanced.
