Well, we know what they are being used for now. And there is no doubt what the wildberries stock is for. But they do have civilian usage.

Fiber optic drones are ideal for inspecting power lines, oil pipelines, and wind turbines where high-voltage equipment creates massive electromagnetic interference (EMI) that disrupts standard radio signals

Also First responders (firefighters, police, search-and-rescue) use tethered drones for persistent situational awareness during disasters

Also In mines, tunnels, and confined spaces, radio waves often fail to penetrate deep underground or bounce unpredictably off walls (multipath interference). So they are used there.

But in the end. If it’s Russia, in 2026, then they are using them for mayhem and murder.

Those are good examples of civilian uses, but they know who is really buying it. The product description for the first one I clicked:

Communication without interference. FPV through fiber eliminates the influence of radio interference, jamming and EW systems. The transmission of the fiber signal guarantees 100% stability - no “subsections” of communication! The transmission of the drone control on the optical cable works where the radio signal is powerless: in tunnels, bunkers, densely built urban areas and areas of active suppression.
