You know what else they need to crack down on? Right, themselves.
But the popup was only half the problem . This doesn’t change the fact that they did install way more than the driver on that PC. And in fact, no normal display needs a driver at all.
Disabling the popup is fixing the symptom, not the problem. Not a bad PR move, but not real change either.
How tf does something connected by a display cable install anything anyway?
the hardware manufacturer submits the ‘bloatware’ as drivers or other ‘essential’ software to microsoft to be included in the library of third-party shit microsoft delivers via windows update, which can then be segregated into automatically or optionally installed.
hardware manufacturers are abusing this process to install bits (such as ads) that are not actually required for basic functionality of their hardware.
DP has features like Display Stream Compression and Forward Error Correction that needs a driver to encode/decode.
Great, now get rid of the universal ID and stop spying on us
It’s ok, no more windows and no more LG for me
They played their hand and we know what kind of companies they are. Bye.
The problem is the forced install of LGs bloatware that can install anything with full permissions, this solves nothing. Until the issue of hardware being allowed to install whatever trash bloatware they want the problem has not even been addressed.
Are we still on pre-Y2K where every device/peripherals needs drivers to be used. F modern technology.
Utterly deranged statement.
What do you propose instead?
Touching some grass and see the sun.
