Russian deserters struggle to win asylum in Germany

Very few Russian deserters are granted asylum in Germany, despite reports of abuse and torture within the Russian military. DW spoke with a young Russian man who fears being sent back to the front lines.

I think they should grant asylum to people with legitimate asylum claims.

Some “non-spy Russians” have legitimate asylum claims. Some do not.
