Fun (?) fact, the reason why those sugarless Haribo Bears are so infamous isn’t because of Xylitol - but rather Maltitol.
I’m pretty good with most artificial sweeteners, but anything more than ~10g of Maltitol over the course of a day creates the sort of farts that clears rooms - and anything approaching 20g causes such horrendous diarrhoea that I wouldn’t even wish it upon my most constipated enemies.
Not to mention that Maltitol is also a bit of a bastard in that it still partially raises blood sugar levels - so most strict keto diets either abstain or count it as ~50% carbs.
The fatal dose is significantly lower for xylitol. If my 90 lb dog ate a few pieces of chocolate, he might be miserable for a few days and need a vet visit, but it would take a lot to be fatal. If he ate a few pieces of gum, it could make him much, much sicker or kill him.
Xylitol
Xylotol in small amounts tastes sweet and kills the bacteria breaking you teeth. In large quantities it makes you shit hit liquid.
Edit: hit should have been hot as in burning, 37C not erotic. ;)
I guess I’ve never had a large quantity as I don’t know what it’s like to shit hit liquid.
I ate too many gummy bears and my toilet afterward went triple platinum
You need more fiber in your diet. Eat a vegetable or a bean for once in your life.
Fortunately for you, you can read about the experience instead of living it.

Yes, but what is “hit liquid”?
I think they meant “hot liquid”
Indeed.
and flat out kills your dog
So does chocolate. Let’s ban that too?
That shit is killing dogs too. Should’ve been banned long time ago.
It’s basically anti-freeze to dogs. Kills them quickly and painfully from even relatively small amounts
chocolate kills dogs too
They don’t sneak chocolate into peanut butter and people use peanut butter as a dog treat it as a way to hide medication from dogs.
Xylitol shouldn’t be used in any product a dog might be tempted to eat. And dogs love peanut butter.
