There is a single crypto scam video that is present in literally hundreds (and possibly thousands+) of full album playlists. There it sits in the middle of the album playlist to catch unsuspecting people.

Not going to link and give them link juice. You could search “Sadeo Watanabe Autumn Blow full album” playlist; You will see “unreleased” but use your brain and don’t click! I’ve personally seen it over 200 times over various playlists.

I don’t know how the hell they managed to get that video embedded in thousands of playlists, there must be some engineering behind this feat.

I want that fking video gone. I know how to personally block that using my tools, but that is not the issue. I want it gone off the platform for me and the rest of the world.

We all know YouTube is an opaque black box as it relates to any realistic or reasonable good faith customer service concern, so I feel that going through any front-facing channel/account is pointless. I’ve reported it every time I’ve seen it, I am sure I’m not the only one, yet there it stays.

So … going to any ridiculous extremes and using every last drop of creativity, what is the most likely course if action(s) to get this video removed forever?

File a DMCA takedown request on it. Youtube always shoots first and asks questions later, and will remove the video entirely while the poster has to fight your frivolous claim. It’s likely they won’t bother, but even if they do and win their video will be delisted for days/weeks.

If you have already reported it the best you could do is bring it to a large youtuber and see of they can boost the reports.

Totally 100% valid approach, I don’t know if I have the communication skills or “clout”, I’m just some bozo. But I’ll look into that!

My greatest fear is the problem being solved, but being solved in an incredibly destructive way, namely me losing access to hundreds of extremely rare albums. But that’s selfish of me, that video needs to go

You could make your own playlist without the scam videos or download the videos and not have to deal with YT anti features.

I have done that for over 100 albums, but again this does not address my underlying issue. It keeps coming back like a bad penny.

My goal is to figure out how to get that video removed.

I must have seen it before because I already had it downvoted. Reported it, probably for the second time. Looks like an inactive channel got hijacked.

What I am very curious about is how it managed to get sprayed across thousands of playlists over hundreds of apparently disconnected accounts. That’s no accident. To me it feels like a YouTube engineer gone rogue.

I’ve seen it happen once before. I had a reuploaded SNL song on my playlist that eventually changed into some diet ad. I can’t explain it though.

There is a specific mechanism for content creators to stealth replace videos! That requires a huge producer such as SNL to have a YouTube manager dedicated to them, where when all the stars align and everything is set up just so, they can do a quick swap - replace for example an old 4x3 video with a 16x9 where the time stamps and everything else is identical.

Many Lonely Island videos (for example) have done this. So I find it very fascinating that you brought up SNL!!!

If you understand tech, and you understand how the systems work, it’s very easy for the conspiracy mind to believe that this is an inside job.

Verrrrry interesting thread to pull on. I wonder what are the business interests behind that original vid …

E: this is getting closer to the real area I thought would be most fruitful. There’s something going on, and the dagger needs to be inserted where it’s going to do the right damage to the right interests

Starfish paralysis isn’t getting to you for some reason?

That is to say, even if you get it removed after tremendous effort, there will be thousands of others to take its place.

I’d say the best thing you can do is withrdraw your revenue from YouTube until they can provide a better experience.

That is defeatism and irrelevant to my goal.

I am a parasite so discussing monetary issues is not germane. I block everything, and use morphe on my phone.
