While mine hasn’t technically crashed, it’s gone through a tough time with my previous (faulty) CPU, freezing solid and the graphic environment shitting the bed randomly, several times a day. That might still get you to a GRUB screen.
You have been told wrong. I’ve been using Linux for about 20 years now, and while it doesn’t crash as often as windows, I’ve certainly had my share of Linux crashes.
The advantage of Linux is that it crashes. Then it reboots. Windows doesn’t crash. It stalls out for 30 minutes. You reboot it manually, and it launches in 40.
I started tinkering with Linux 9 years ago. I have compiled a driver into the kernel that caused kernel panics. But when using out of the box distros I don’t recall having a crash that needed reboot. I’ve had a couple of lockups that were solved by changing to an alternate tty login and restarting the display manager, or doing a forced logout, but not in several years at least.
I was using Linux and Windows for work, they stopped offering the Linux application I used, so moved to Windows for work only. Its hella janky most days, I can’t believe Microsoft thinks this is a mature operating system.
…so linux crashed and rebooting here?
Errmm. I’m told that Linux does not crash.

Maybe there was a power outage. There’s a good chance this is in the US of A. Maybe a geoguesser can confirm the location.

I’m not sure they think that. At least not all the engineers. Management maybe. But they do sell it as such.
Likely a dead storage medium
