Tesla will stop making the Cybertruck next year, according to CEO Elon Musk, who said on X that the company will use the factory space to build more two-seater Cybercab robotaxis.

The decision to wind down the futuristic, steel-clad EV comes after just a few short years of underwhelming sales. When Musk handed over the first few Cybertrucks in late 2023, he predicted Tesla would sell around 250,000 per year. It was supposed to be such a cornerstone of Tesla’s future that, before construction began, the company talked about its Texas factory as the “Cybertruck factory.” But Tesla has instead sold just tens of thousands — total — over the last three years.

Remember to point and laugh at every Cybertruck you see (while you can)! They knew who Musk was, and supported him anyway…

I actually saw one of those ‘I bought this before we knew he was crazy’ stickers on one in the wild. Like, no buddy, you were fully aware of the monster he was at that point.

I legit thought i was the only person who did this! A guy near my office owns one and started to recognize me in my lesser ev and now it’s a race to see if i can point and laugh before he flips me off. Now i change it up on him and shake my head at him while wearing the biggest, shit eating grin.

Maybe it’s petty of me. Or maybe we need to bring public shaming back to counteract the Elmo brainworm all these sycophants have🤷🏻‍♂️

Fortunately they are so terrible and Tesla is so terrible at providing parts that these will all be off the road within a few years.

Not really. There’s a massive stockpile of them that they’re trying to flog to the US govt. That might have become much more difficult since last week.

I actually point and laugh at every one I see. Driving one of those tells me you’re an idiotic Nazi with horrible taste. Some of the paint jobs I’ve seen on them have been especially hilarious.

I can already see the reboot of the franchise in the making. Back To The (NASDAQ) Futures, the story of a ketamine-addicted blowhard that goes back in time in his Cybertruck to stop himself from building it. When he does, his time-travel Cybertruck disappears because it’s never been made and he’s stuck in 2023, so he misses his flight to Mars and dies of climate change like everyone else. Sad Story ®.

Leave it to Elon to quit making one of the dumbest products in history just so he can make something even dumber.

Just so the CyberCab can fail next. It couldn’t happen to a better company.

Musk’s obsession with ‘breaking the mold’ is driving one terrible idea after another. Their Vision-only 2 seater will never be approved for full autonomous, leaving them with a single awkward front seat taxi.

And without a rear window, I doubt even the most die-hard Musk Rats would choose it as their main car over a Model 3.

What a raging success. Luckily that pedestrian slicer was never street legal in the EU, so I was never at risk of confusing it with a trash container.
