Hi everyone, I’m new to Lemmy and looking to get involved. I am curious about what major differences you have experienced here vs Reddit as I am hoping this is a nice alternative.
I’ve personally experienced aggressive overreach and biased moderation on Reddit, and I was wondering if you have experienced a different environment here. If so, are there ways to get the word out about sites like this that might be viable alternatives?
More granularly/specifically, are there any topics that you might have discussed on both platforms and had a different experience? What have you seen here that has been a vast upgrade over Reddit? Thanks for any guidance!

I hate ai companies and how they push ai but ill be damned if it isnt useful as fk for all my niche use cases that were never getting solved by anyone else because I cant afford a dev team or even a fiverr developer. (not that they gave good results, or were actually cheap based off yt videos ive seen) No more hoping for a solution to pop up that fits my needs. Just ask and modify, everyones fearmongering had me scared it was going to be ridiculously unstable or some sht. Idk how ppl can’t see ai can be incredibly useful, especially now that it’s not the garbage it was a few years ago when they first tried to push it.
I’m an it bs grad who cant find a major related job, likely because of ai, hate it deepdown but it still feels like a disservice to myself to not use it to customize everything I use to actually fit my needs. The option is there and I know it works now. When I have an issue it’s like who am I benefitting by not getting it solved.
