Ummm ackchully the powdered wig look didn’t take off until the mid-16th century (funny enough, started because of the syphilis epidemic, a disease which came from contact with the New World) and was reserved for the wealthy elite at the time. Most sailors getting off the first boats would’ve just been wiry, deformed, and pock-marked hunchbacks ☺️☺️
Can you not have a bit of respect? Some of us are tryin’ to bask in moon glow!
Our flag means death is a great show. I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did.
Imagine the smell
They wouldn’t have seen that
Because they didn’t have computers to show them that picture?
Ye
Admittedly, if you were on some isolated area and this came off a boat you’d think you’re being invaded by aliens, too.
I want the record to show I didn’t even go with the top 5 most absurd Met gala outfits that came up when I googled, I was trying to keep it fair here.
The first eldridge horror.

I googled “eldridge horror” and I’m enjoying all of the posts that meant to say eldritch. Though I suppose if you don’t read Lovecraft or partake in nerdom, eldritch isn’t exactly an everyday word, and I can see how it could be misheard.
Also fucking brilliant if intentional here. That gentleman is absolutely one Lord Eldridge, if I’ve ever seen one.
Native: “Tunga m’matwa?” (what the fuck is that?)
Dandy: “My dear savage, you look upon the esteemed Lord Eldridge of Banglesbury!”
Native: “Noka wat’ay?” (why does he look like that?)
Dandy: “My good savage, I’ve no idea what ever the fuck you’re saying.”
Maybe?
Didn’t some Native American tribes paint their faces too though?
Yeah but I’ll be the parlor wigs were a bit off-putting
The reveal at the end of apocalypto has always stuck with me in my mind.
DEMONS FROM BEYOND THE SEA

I read an account somewhere once, about how these chiseled natives were met by the Europeans. Pudgy, pale, balding, Europeans. I can imagine the European women at seeing those badass men next to theirs.
Yeah no. Your typical worker arriving on a ship would not have been fat/overweight, and it’s unlikely that typical native Americans looked like they spent serious time in a gym lol
I also dunno why you’d think only Europeans have age-related hair loss

“Completely immune”
Also scurvy is gross, wasn’t solved until 1700s
