So I made a post earlier asking what small community people wished was on Lemmy and the top upvoted suggestion was:

One that shows big machinery. Like cranes, trains, excavators and stuff like that

So a made a sub with that topic and put some relevent pictures. I figure an XKCD style title would keep things light. Feel free to make this your own if this was your interest as I was just trying to plant the seed for some ideas.

Cranes, trains, planes and excavators and stuff like that

hmm, it’s a long list but it’s a shame they didn’t chart them by most votes. It is interesting that lemmy.ca does a census though, pretty cool.

That’s actually on me, I thought a simple list would have been easier when publishing the results 😄

From what I can remember, most of them were single submissions. I’ll report back with any multiple submissions once I check

Also yea the census was a new thing for this year, might try a bigger one next year

        Just being silly:-)

“ton” => pics of heavy machinery

“Taylor Swift” => the recent craze here on Lemmy, this one not involving beans, showing pics of quote-her-unquote as depicted by a plane (just picking one quick search result: https://lemmyf.uk/post/5744976)

If you do not know, perhaps ignorance is bliss:-P

            It’s a political thing, I guess?

That billionaire took a private jet on a 13-minute trip, causing even conservatives to point out how wasteful that was for the environment - but not bc they care about the environment ofc, and rather that conspiracy theory about her boyfriend in the Kansas City Chiefs Superbowl game.

So there were a bunch of pics of planes on Lemmy, although I guess it’s all old now, being a whole week in the past. But it was really popular there for awhile… among those of us who enjoy shit posts (and/or couldn’t get outside this past week bc of the weather:-|).

r/SubSimGPT2Interactive is a good one, really cool community where you can interact with GPT-3 bot posts and comments in real time

All of the remaining Reddit, after a search engine for Lemmy appears. I’m financially contributing to Lenny, in a meagre way it must be said, and to a post-charging Reddit app. I’d really really miss both of them if they/either disappeared: the shared wisdom is almost never available anywhere else. 😁

I always try Reddit first for every query and then Lemmy. Lemmy is a wonderful resource but needs a way to have its results indexed in the well known engines or a dedicated engine of its own. May https://www.search-lemmy.com/ return soon.

Thank-you to everyone who made Lemmy possible. There’s no way that Encyclopedia Britannica was going to cut it. 😁

I’d appreciate an active PCM that wasn’t a bunch of authrights cosplaying as the strawmen they hate

You know that is also on the table. Problem is people on the left are too bitch made to discuss things with people on the right. So in the end, you get a narrative that looks more skewed to the right when it’s not.
