This situation is super fucked, and I feel horrible for her. Maybe some of the men doing it truly believed it was a fetish / consensual though, it’s incredibly hard to say without seeing the messages. Either way they definitely should have checked in with the wife, and not have trusted the husband (who was the only conscious person they interacted with).

Edit - after reading the HIV thing, I retract this statement. Fuck these people

“I have had no sympathy from any of the accused. One who was HIV-positive came six times. Not once did my husband express any concern about my health,” she said.

Even if these rapists claims they thought they were participating in some weird sex play, if you knew you were HIV positive, why would you have unprotected sex with anybody?

    Their claims reek of bullshit.

if you knew you were HIV positive, why would you have unprotected sex with rape anybody?

When you use the correct terms, your question answers itself (E, in case it wasn’t clear: because they’re a selfish piece of shit).

Obviously. The point the person was making was to say that even if we buy into the bullshit narrative that this was consensual, it still doesn’t make sense. They didn’t use incorrect terms to skirt around it, they were making a specific point about their claims.

Except it isn’t obvious to many people, and using the correct language is more important than any supposed point they were trying to make (because part of rape culture is society, and especially the media and the courts not calling it what it is to muddy the water. I’m not accusing OP of doing that deliberately, but that’s why words matter, even if you intention is benign).

Edit to add now my brain is in gear, probably just as important: is the issue of perpetuating ableist and or queerphobic stigma (which again, OP doesn’t have to intend for it, for it to be happening) - there is absolutely nothing inherently wrong with a person who has HIV having unprotected sex. Most HIV patients, especially in developed countries, now have viral loads so low they are not contagious, and have partners who are perfectly happy and safe having unprotected sex with them.

The problem here is and always was the lack of consent, aka rape, and the fact that the rapist husband told all his rapist friends that condoms were unnecessary. Nothing at all to do with the HIV status of one of the rapists (note she caught 3 other STI’s too, but no one is singling those rapists out individually)

So yes, words matter, the fact that they don’t matter to you, or any of the other fragile downvoters, doesn’t change that.

If I said “come over for free beer” I don’t know that I could get 50 people in a day.

What fucking scene is this dude plugged into that he got 50 "yes"s to “hey how’s about a nice rape?”

That’s amazing that gay men have a community there to meet each other. Fuck you for implying this is alarming, they aren’t hurting anyone and are consenting adults.

I am not. I’m on there some times. But also it sucks as a pay site. Like the only way to meet others like us in thru sites like that. Anyway, sniffies is actually not a good place though. There, you can easily spam others, which is mildly bad. But you can totally identify them and target them. The site has like zero security features. Someone should go there and show everyone how dangerous it is for them being in that place. You at least should use the fake GPS. But I mean there are more glaring problems. Back to the relevance though. If you’re gay and would like a 50 guy thing, you can totally set it up in there. For bi people like me and my misses, there aren’t apps like that yet.

After the truth emerged, Gisèle found that she was carrying four sexually-transmitted diseases.

“I have had no sympathy from any of the accused. One who was HIV-positive came six times. Not once did my husband express any concern about my health,” she said.

Not only does every one of these men deserve to spend the rest of their lives in prison, but I hope every one of these fuckers tests positive for this.

I am a total junkie for true crime, but this is one of the most harrowing, vile, and horrific things I have ever read. I am a lesser person for having read it. That said, I think her carrying on despite all of this is really the testament of the human spirit. That poor woman…

I’ve been hearing about Korean true crime recently so sadly the only thing totally new to me about this is it happened in France. Though somehow I’m shocked every time i hear of anything so dishusting, like I don’t want to learn the lesson that the world is full of so many terrible people.

The husband was also involved in a rape and murder in the early 90s. He was caught because he was trying to take upskirts of people in public and the police found the evidence for what he was doing to his wife and daughter on his electronics.

It’s still just messed up. BDSM I can totally understand 😜. It’s between consenting adults. It’s a fun way to release stress. But consent is the key word.
