As I said, love Sync, paid immediately to remove ads. Keep up the amazing work my dude.

Before I spend money (15 eur is not cheap, but is worth it for this app, imo), I want to know if it’s not just a visual ad removal but the data collection and all the tracking gets actually disabled. I don’t want to pay for ad removal. I want to pay to keep my data mine.

It says €19 here. (a year!!) No offence for the dev. But I fucking hate subscription based services. I really wanted to support the dev and have an ad free experience. But this is imo a bridge too far. I hope many people support him. But count me out… Sorry.

This is exactly why I haven’t downloaded it - I was looking forward to Sync for Lemmy, and I’ve been using Connect in the meantime. But Connect doesn’t collect any data, according to Google Play, and Sync does. I’m on the fence about paying to keep my data my own, at this point.

If the ads sdk is not initialized for the paid version, and no data is collected, then there is no issue.

Except for data shared in the moments before I purchase, sure. Which is what leaves me on the fence, to be honest. Hopefully there will be more info about how this is handled soon.

Sure, but you can do a GDPR request to delete it, if you are an EU resident

I wish I could, but I’m in the US. And on the Google Play store it says data can’t be deleted, so I’m assuming that since I’m not in the EU, there will be no leniency for me. The more I think about it, the less I want to deal with it, personally. With that being said, I recognize that not everyone will agree with me, and of course that’s perfectly fine.
