  • There’s an important note at the bottom of that article:

“The recall announcement noted that Sierra Stain is no longer in business. While the company lists a remaining email address, it did not immediately respond to a comment request from Ars on the bacteria found in their inks.

The FDA recommends that consumers be vigilant about the quality and safety of tattoo supplies and techniques. It also encourages tattoo artists to work in professional environments that can reduce the risk of contamination.”

Stay safe. Talk to your artists about their materials. Feel comfortable in your decision. These are your responsibilities.

I’m not discounting the issues with oversight, but these issues are arguably with the entire cosmetic industry as a whole, not just the tattoo industry.

This article is very informative, but given that the recall was tagged to one supplier that was already out of business, I do consider it misleading.

For piercings, APP is fantastic resource & well regarded.

I honestly cannot say the same about ATP, but they did release this statement about ink ingredients 5 months ago.

Take it for what’s it’s worth. Not an expert or an artist, just planning a few more pieces myself.

  • My analogy isn’t terrible, it’s spot fucking on. You just use the ice maker & wouldn’t want to lose it so you’ve attached more value to it than the Anova App.

Does the refrigerator not refrigerate without the ice maker? You didn’t buy an ice maker, you bought a refrigerator.

No one is pissed about the device not working. People are pissed that Anova is taking away a FEATURE.

Anova App = Feature included in original purchase price

Ice Maker = Feature included in original purchase price.

This isn’t about the value of what’s being taken away. It’s about the principle of taking away something that was already paid for.

If Anova wants a subscription based model, they’re welcome to it, but…

Their current customers did not buy into a subscription model & have the absolute right to be pissed off about being forced into one.

  • Would you buy a refrigerator from a manufacturer that wanted to make the ice maker a subscription service out of nowhere?

I get that the app isn’t a requirement for the device, but neither is an ice maker required for a refrigerator to function as designed.

They’re both features advertised as part of the original purchase price. Why does one get an expiration date out of the blue?

The people who are likely to be losing Bluetooth functionality are also the most likely to be from the original kickstarter batch.

Even if some-many of them have already upgraded to a newer model, that’s still one hell of a statement to make to your original backers.

  • EVERYTHING is sponsored. If it comes from a candidate, it’s sponsored. If it’s sponsored, it’s PROPAGANDA.

I’m honestly not sure what’s left to debate here. Trumps “ads” are out & out falsehoods, lies, fabrications if you will.

Incorrect information edited into a narrative designed to generate an emotion, typically fear, that calls on you to act by voting for an anthropomorphic circus peanut. You know? Lies.

That picture is a picture. It has no words. It might tell a lie, but it is not a fabrication to generate fear. It’s a bunch of goons trying to look relatable enough to vote for.

Will they lie if elected? Yes. The difference is they aren’t lying to my face directly while trying to pit me against my neighbors in an attempt to drum up hostilities. The other one is doing that.

  • Everything is propaganda. I’m simply pointing out that some propaganda is more palatable than other types.

I don’t give a squat about some dumpy middle age goon trying to make themselves look relatable and cool for an election.

I do give a squat when a fat liar lies his way to the top of the pile, shits on our country for four years, before starting those lies back up & trying to do it all over again.

  • Does anybody know if this guy that died, is the base jumper? Or if they are two different people?

“GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. (AP) — The body of a North Carolina man who fell 400 feet (122 meters) near a scenic viewpoint on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park has been recovered, authorities said Thursday.

Park rangers said they received a report about a park visitor falling from the Pipe Creek Vista around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. They said the body of Abel Joseph Mejia, 20, of Hickory, was later recovered about a quarter-mile from the overlook.”

OP’s article states the victim hasn’t been identified yet, so I’m wondering if there were two deaths.

Not a huge deal. I just live in NC & the other story hit our headlines this morning.
