  • After reading it back I’ll cede that it does read that way.

My intention, admittedly not well executed, was to say that it’s either iOS or Android and they both have pros and cons. Other that those choices it’s to use GrapheneOS where you find it harder to install things.

The reason I think was because this place is very pro GrapheneOS or similar ones so figured that would be a given. Otherwise Apple or Google it’s like the choice between being shot in the head or having you neck snapped, neither is ideal but you have to choose one.

TIL that as a software engineer I must be tech illiterate as I’m no sycophant. How shocking that I use an Apple phone as it just works for what I want. I’d be in the same boat if I used Android and I choose convenience when choosing a phone, gone are my days of geeking out for a month trying to get my banking app to work.

One might argue you’re a little dense if you think the world is this black and white.

  • Yeah I treat the downvote as a way of saying shit content or trolling or whatever. People on here seem to treat it like a disagreement button.

If you’re not engaging to try and bring people to your point of view then what are you here for cause I’m not here for a circle jerk, I can wank myself off just fine. This place seems like a club no dissimilar to r/conservative but for “our side” and fuck that I’ll hold my people to the same standards as people I don’t agree with. Thats integrity.

  • Interesting as the window is the main factor for me in the office. My desk is facing the window, not close to it but it’s there and bright.

At home, when working from home, most the time, my desk is facing a wall with the window behind me and using closed curtains.

So what I’m hearing is maybe I’m a little sensible to light and that’s why I leave with headaches? I used to hate driving at night too as all the other lights on cars and stuff are super bright and again I’d get headaches.

  • I don’t hate it but If I work in light mode or have phone in that mode then I will leave the office with a head ache.

To me with dark mode anything I am reading is light. I am looking for light. In light mode everything is light and you’re looking for the absence of light and I can’t take it. It doesn’t hurt my eyes but it certainly makes me squint more often and then get a headache or worse a migraine.

I also work with sunglasses in the office as the office itself is too bright.

I’ve been using computers since the early 90’s and they were always dark mode first. Particularly in jobs with bright text on black.
