I think this is fair. It’s reasonable to require a stowed phone, and we don’t have a reasonable expectation of privacy while driving our cars. No essential liberty is being violated.

So anyhow my wife, kids, and me all have different last names. Complicated hippie stuff yada yada.

At first, my dad was all disappointed the family name ends with me.

Fast forward fifteen years. My dad discovers that our family changed their names when they moved to the “old” (middle?) country 100+ years ago, to assimilate there. They just didn’t anglicize the name when we moved here.

TL;DR: all names are just made up

I see other people talk to their bosses like that sometimes. I’m always shocked at how blunt they are in a clearly hostile business arrangement, but these guys do exist.

Makes me thank my lucky stars my boss is just a normal person.

I mean don’t get me wrong you gotta assert your boundaries, but I’d just say “no” and not offer a detailed reason. You can hear how I really feel while I’m on the clock. 😜

I wonder if they got mine wrong or something. It just got so filled with low quality slop and ads that I stopped wanting to go. When it’s a human, it’s never my actual friends saying something funny anymore. I just check up on my dad’s latest bird photos there every once in a while.

If they’d just kept Facebook like it used to be, then I’d still be posting there.

One of the frustrating things is people acting like they were engaging this discussion in good faith decades ago. They’ve gotten away with being extraordinarily selfish for most of their lives, and now turn around and go oops.

This had already been explained to them and they refused to listen when the whole world depended on it.

Is this guy better than someone still denying it now? Sure, whatever. We’re still allowed to be mad at them for the damage they’ve done, like a vandal who suddenly stops and apologizes.

I disagree with the implication that unilateral sacrifices are going to make any significant difference. Reduce driving sure, but we need large scale systemic change, not a handful of exhausted altruists.
