Nixon was going to be allowed to get away scot free until the media started actually educating the public, who then demanded their politicians do something about it. Fox News was created in the wake of that with the goal of preventing that from happening again.

And with first past the poll voting, the system is designed to inevitably allow a minority to rule. When it was created, only a handful could vote, and being kept up to date on political and economic events was essentially a requirement of their place in the country. Wealthy white land owners were already basicallt required to stay up to date on current events and politics, and the effects of various changes. The voting systems were designed with an educated electorate like that in mind. Those systems have been hijacked as voting rights have expanded and an educated and up-to-date electorate is no longer an fundamental feature of who could vote.

I mean that’s obvious. Otherwise you’re just paying $45 to ignore the security checkpoint if you’re guaranteed to get through with payment.

One could argue surveillance and tracking is about security. They’d be wrong. But they could argue that.

It looks to me a bit more like establishment Dems trying to lay a trap for a Democratic Socialist taking office. He approves it and seemingly immediately does the opposite of part of his election platform, improving affordability for average New Yorkers. Or he doesn’t and there’s immediate friction with basically every member of the council board that he needs to actually accomplish anything.

I’m sure they think so. Its not just an increase for Mamdani, it is for all of City Council. Their last pay increase was 2016 according to the article.

This of course is not a vacuum though, and I’m sure the rest of New York’s average workers have gotten the hard end of a stick for the last decade as well.

Tesla isn’t the first manufacturer to use frameless windows by any means. Audi, Toyota, Honda, Mercedes, Volkswagen, Mini, and Subaru just to name a few, have all used them in various “luxury” or higher end models over the years. It’s perceived as luxury vehicle design, so it gets used quite a bit.

The handle not physically manipulating a latch also isn’t unique. Corvette’s have done this for years. Many recent vehicles from Lexus, Audi, Ferrari, Fiat, Lincoln, and Dodge again to name a few also use them, regardless of the flush exterior handle design. The handle design itself isn’t the issue with these deaths, it’s the electrical system failing. The flush handles causes issues with things like ice build-up, not being unable to open the door after a crash.

Articles like this always point to these issues, and act like they’re unique to Tesla, but they’re not. It’s the same as it’s always been, Tesla headlines get clicks, which drives interaction and sharing exactly like here, which all lead to increased advertising revenue.

Not sure exactly how things are setup now for the various apps, but a few years ago some of the apps would charge the restaurant for their delivery service (sometimes a set monthly cost, sometimes a set cost per delivery, sometimes a percentage) so the restaurants would often recoup that cost by increasing prices in the app.

Oh Pearson definitely does thst as well. But not everyone lives near or has reliable transit to a testing facility. Online testing is essentially a requirement for those people.

Pearson is a testing company. They use all sorts of sketchy shit under the guise of anti-cheating. Much of that requires specific plug-ins and stuff that only work in Windows.

Even if you could get it working, but they’ll likely just say you were cheating, and take the $300+ you paid to take that required test.
