Your mom didn’t tell you the truth, plain and simple. Whether she knows the truth, that’s another story. You can’t re-absorb a whole baby, with bones and all that.

When you look in the mirror, you see yourself through a mood filter. If you are feeling happy and optimistic, you will see a nicer looking reflection.

Besides, small things can effectively change how you look in subtle ways. Are the clothes a bit more wrinkly or need adjustment? Do you need a haircut or shave? Did you sleep well and are you drinking enough water? Also, your body posture is different.

My ex has mood swings related to their body image. One day they thought they looked nice and fit, the other day they looked fat and ugly. To me nothing changed, except that on the bad days, they had bad posture in front of the mirror. Unconsciously, they were self sabotaging themselves.

I remember once in my home country in Europe I was with a group of friends in the woods with our bikes having fun going up and down the small hills. Not mountain bikes, just normal bicycles but the trails were solid enough. Suddenly about 30 Jeeps skow up and start going around the place, absolutely trampling the terrain and making it impossible to bike or even walk around. Must have been a meetup of diesel brains. We tried to argue with them that they destroyed the whole place, but they basically argued it was their right.

It’s happening again with the term “AI”.

At one point, “meme” was only synonymous with those rage faces. This was the 9gag days. It really grinded my gears. And this was indeed caused by normies adopting the term.

The picture is not necessarily the meme. The format is. That’s where you’re gatekeeping. Posting a random new picture with a caption on top, that’s still a meme format.

Well, yeah, because Linux is not the status quo. If you hate Windows you need to change and people hate change. If you hate Linux, you just go on living you (ignorant) life.

Media today is way more subtle than that, in part because culturally we don’t need to be told so explicitly anymore. It’s similar to how villains used to, and sometimes still do, have a strong gay accent, because being queer coded was the same as being evil coded. That’s the same principle with the weird body proportions vs the perfect white American jaw.
