I too was waiting for my cold coffee to warm up a bit while typing
can i just ask why all the downvotes, did i get something wrong?
Sorry did not get this one, is it because if there would more leaching on ocean floor, and possibly increasing depth (i dont think that would have any realistic impact) or is it in a joke-y sense saying that sponges have soaked up water and if they were not there, then sea level would be higher? If that is the one, then actually if sponges were to be removed, then the total sea level would technically decrease (not going into any biology here) purely because sponges in non expanded form will have some volume, and that is a non zero amout, going in water, they just have absorbed it - or to be more precise - swollen, so the original volume is still there, and if no sponges, that miniscule amount would be removed. And maybe if no sponges, then lots of fauna would die, and now i need a biologist (the marine kind) to confirm that for most aquatic stuff, they tend to have densities close to water itself (so they can be gravitationally neutral, and some puff up/release air from stomach to change densities slighlty so as to adjust to water density) and remove that much amount of fish would just remove there volume, and assuming same density, sea level would decrease. But maybe no fauna means huge algae bloom, and floor fauna to die, and reduced co2 capture levels by seas, and due to then possible increase in co2 levels would cause accelerated glacial melting and higher sea levels so more depth, but maybe in that case humans would not survive, and possible our emmissions gone would mean on land co2 capture would be more feasible, and maybe further decrease.
Recursion depth reeached NaN. Halting.
i got that, but i am trying to understand how, i have slept on 1 after playing, and i am tall. not against homeless persons, but was weirded out seeing armrests and spikes in the same line
I am sorry, but why is having armrests that bad, most benches i have seen with armrest have them on the ends, and yes a tall person would not fit in, but it is not that bad.
was not expecting cft
most fears are kinda like intuitions, where you come up with scenarios of things going downhill, they can definitely help you skip a few such scenarios
Going for 6-7 years - you need to keep a few things in mind
depending on usage - battery would have to replaced once or twice - so machine has to be somewhat repairable.
a subset of above - 2 or 3 cleanings per year
also try to find repair guides for your device, the harder it is to repair, less good of a deal it is. For my old laptop, i have to not only remove all of the motherboard, but then de-rivet a back plate, and then replace keyboard and re-rivet. This forced me to buy a external keyboard.
go for a good display - at this price, tn is very common, my old laptop was tn, and it sucked. go for IPS. (difference in price would be $10)
if you are flexible with budget, don’t buy really old stuff. Anything from last 3-4 or even 5 years is fine, but any older is definitely not. since you want to future proof, going for maybe $100 more for a better cpu may even pay well, if you amortize the cost over 4-5 years
go for something not plastic body - my last laptop was plastic body, and in nearly 2 years of daily commute and medium to heavy usage, all edges broke, and in 1-2 falls, i even had display bleed. Unscrewing and screwing back made plastic bits fail over time. If you can find a metal body, then great, if not, try to get something which has parts of body metal reinforced (my current one is this)
whatever hardware you get - please check linux compatibility beforehand. for laptops this will include keyboard - touchpad, wifi cards, and so on
do not go for a gimmicky device
Don’t be overwhelmed by linux. These days, operating systems are anyway glorified boot loader for browsers, where people do everything. If you need any help, post in communities and you will find help. You can also message me if you would like that.
what is your budget? for hardware, I would either recommend a used laptop, or some entry level laptop. For a scale, I bought something for 500$ USD (did not buy in US, converting pricing to it) and for that I got - a recent-ish 8 core cpu, with a good (relatively) igpu, 24 GiB Ram, 1 TB storage, and 50Whr battery. If you want to target for 300$, you can roughly halve these specs, and get reasonable deals.
For distro - Anything works. If you want something to set and forget - pick a immutable distro like Silverblue. All distros essentially will act same, don’t try many. What you may want to try is Desktop environments (you can either check youtube videos, or project webpages). If no windows is installed, manufacturers either put opendos on it, or just plain blank, in either case you would prepare a installer media (instructions available on all distro websites, it is easy), go to bios, allow usb booting, then plug the usb, while booting select the media, and start. Then most installers are guided enough to help you.
Best of Luck.
happy you are all good. Some people who are not well find there lives to be lacking, and long for some imaginary things. And sometimes just asking directly helps
sorry, but your comment felt slightly depressing, just wanted to ask you if you are well
you seem slightly sad, wanna discuss?
i would believe this, if the physics in our dreams stays consistent, which it does not
i did not necessarily me mean our as in the person who is dreaming, our as in mostly humans, it is like a diorama we run, not exactly playing sims in our mind
well that gives me some soothe
my family is dying and i dont like it, atleast get me on the tracks with them, would not be able to live with the guilt anyway
I live in a country where 10s of millions died, due to partition. So i have seen blood. And what were believes of the people who saw it first hand - just stop where we are and restart building from here. The thing is, we believe violence can solve everything, it is the last weapon of game, that when we pick, we end story there, but that is not always the case, believing that violence is last resort - is also very naive according to me - From a fellow naive. Consider this a goodbye from me for today, hope to meet you in some other post (or irl) someday.
Also from the evolutionary biology perspective - top of food chain is the worst place to affect anything. These top pedators depend on all the bottom clogs to spin well, and if they dont, almost always top of food chain suffers. Dinos were wiped because they were just too big to handle suffocation, there prey (for carnivore dinos) were either dead or in burrows which they could not access. One of the only good top of food chain members are sharks - because they are just built good and still have large varied diets, and it is not like all shark species have survived.
technically correct, the best kind of correct
