Big surprise: shit smells like shit

After years of hearing about How I Met Your Mother and seeing memes and clips everywhere I finally decided to give it a go. I’m not sure I even lasted more than one episode. It’s been a while but I remember it not as something that didn’t click with me, but a comedy I immediately disliked

If a likeable main character is a requirement then it’s no surprise Breaking Bad doesn’t appeal to you, and that’s fair.

I must point out one thing though.

I understand there’s probably something to it, maybe the drama is interesting, maybe it’s really well acted, maybe the sets are beautiful

You seem to assume Breaking Bad is loved by many people in spite of its flawed main character, but I’d argue that’s one of the main reasons for its success. Shows that do an interesting exploration of a “villain” are not that common and, even rarer than that, Breaking Bad pulls off the rare stunt of having the main character of a multi-season series evolve and change dramatically over time.

So yeah, I get that disliking Walter White being a turn off for you, but for many that character and his story is precisely why they love the series.

I don’t think the US will ever pay reparations in any form to its (nominal) allies, nor be asked to.

Instead, the US will lose (or has already lost) all goodwill and soft power it has enjoyed post WWII, and will have to face skeptic if not openly hostile nations in all diplomatic affairs, forcing it to make significant concessions if it hopes to have any sort of alliance and agreement in the future.

Plus, hopefully, the EU and many other countries will realise the mistake of relaying on the US for strategic assets, in particular defense, finance and tech, which will have a significant impact on the US economy long term.
