That’s most of Canada really, outside of southern Ontario and Quebec. Sometime in the last 12 months Eastlink dropped their gigabit cable by $40 where I am so I’m hopeful for incoming competition finally. My 5 year goal is to move outside of town, so I’ll likely be going with skynet because I highly doubt I’ll have much choice.

Your post was a view point that we couldn’t work less while maintaining modern conveniences and luxuries, at least that’s how it’s coming across.
If your point was simply that in pre-modern times they didn’t have what we have today and that it was due to working too much for sustaining life to develop, then ok I guess. Maybe I misread the thread. The main post was about the fact we’re working too many hours in our current society though so… yeah.

If you need to work to afford to live, you’re being lied to about what’s possible for a healthy and functioning modern society to thrive.
Don’t forget that in order for capitalism to stay alive, it requires poverty, manufactured scarcity and obsolescence.
You should question why billionaires even exist in what you consider to be a just and modern society. You should also look up a visual representation of just how much larger 1 billion is from whatever your gross annual income is if you still think it’s reasonable that they do exist.
I prefer that when done properly a network admin is simply forgotten about.

I use Office 365 for work and I still CTRL+S. Something learned the hard way is hard to let go of lol
I have a workday routine setup to turn specific lights on for set stations. If my bathroom vanity and kitchen lights were capable of taking smart bulbs, I wouldn’t have to touch a light switch in the morning. It also means I don’t have to fumble in the dark, half asleep.
I also have another similar routine but for when my wife gets up with the kids for school.
Being able to let the kids keep a light on but at 1% brightness is glorious, because it’s a nightlight they can’t pull out of the wall.
Mood lightning in not just brightness levels but also colours.
Granted half of what I said is capable without a voice assistant.
Also I discovered that simulated grey light is a thing and it’s awful… But I learned that because of my voice assistant.
When someone previously told a vrtx vm not to auto boot after power up and none of the remote access is working either… Both undocumented as well, of course. And your tired AF tech is statically configuring the wrong IP range on their laptop to manu because it’s been a long shutdown day and are also unfamiliar with the system in general (me). Good times, I figured it out though, but lots of sweating and swearing.
