Their “Why should I be barred from taking advantage of anything that might benefit me?” vs Your “I am have nothing to give and no way to meaningfully help, so I’ll stay out.” Is very telling.
Why assume you have something to offer them when the opposite is likely truer.
I don’t think I have anything to offer which is why me not being included is fine. That’s the whole point.
