The “do you know where your files are?” reminds me of their past security leaks and breaches. 🤔
For the last time, no!
I get emails from them “There’s still space on your Dropbox. You have 6GB of space left”
It feels like they think I just want to upload files for no reason. What’s the rush?
Need to use up all your storage before you feel a need to pay for more.
Google Photos keeps notifying me that I’m running out of space and I’ve used a whopping 26% of my space!
Fun fact, if you use the PixelExperience custom ROM, you get free unlimited photo storage in original quality because Google thinks you’re actually using a Pixel phone.
No guarantees they won’t delete your account if they figure out. But it worked for me until I finally got another phone.
I have an old Samsung Fold. I looked up if Custom ROMs were installable a few years ago and while it was possible, it killed 1-2 of the cameras(!), so I’m not venturing that route any time soon 😅
Just upload Shrek 5 times.
Upgrade to our next pricing tier. Do it! Do eet naow!
They’ve been acting desperate lately.
“aTtEnTiOn: YoUr dRoPbOx HaS sToPpEd SyNcInG”
To their credit, I haven’t logged in for years and they still haven’t deleted my data, despite having every right to do so at this point.

Do you know where your files are motherfucker?
We have them. Go to Dropbox.
I didn’t even know they were still in business
All I can think of is those old PSAs. “It’s 8:55 AM. Do you know where your files are?”
Uhh… are they training AI models on people’s files? That’s sort of the feeling I’m getting from their “PLEASE UPLOAD YOUR ENTIRE HARD DRIVE” push.
Edit: YUP: https://blog.dropbox.com/topics/product/introducing-AI-powered-tools
I mean they can train their AI on my entire hard drive if I can upload it for free…
10-30, we got a hostage situation here.
mega.nz is way better than a lot of these cloud storage services+ you get 20 GBs for free. They also have achievement programs where you can get more storage for free. For example, installing the MEGA desktop app will give you an additional 5 GB of storage and installing the mobile app and verifying your phone number can give you another 10 GB of storage. That is very generous!
or host your own with nextcloud or casaos or the like
One stupid notification like these from your app and it’s uninstalled and the service cancelled.
Why do i think that it’s a some kind of poem…
I’d use dropbox again if they allowed public linking to said files. I have no use for online storage otherwise.
I hadn’t realized they removed that feature (well, paywalled it)…
I’ve had a free 8gb account for years, but almost never use it. Switched to self-hosting a while ago. VPN+SSH to manage files, then nginx to serve them through my domain.
Sync.com is waaay better than Dropbox. Also, Sync won’t lie or bait-and-switch you like Dropbox will. Never, ever trust Dropbox. They suck an entire ass.
You know the end part of S.T.A.L.K.E.R where the booming disembodied voice draws you closer? Thats the voice with which I read these notifications.
