I too have three rows of teeth.
When fish have nicer teeth than me.
Have you tried a freshwater diet?
The food that can chew you back.
What in the everloving fuck is that?? Nightmare fuel 😨
A partially eaten cooked Pacu fish.
Thanks! I hate it
Nibble nibble
They evolved to chew nuts that fell into the water
Ok well, I’m never swimming again.
If you wade or jump in, you’ll be fine.
If your junk is dry, the fish can’t get to it
If you fall in, not so much.
The most dangerous place to be is right on the shore. Either jump in or stay away. You have to commit around these nut-chompers.
Can we use them for transplants?
I’m scared of it but also impressed it evolved to eat nuts.
Nope.
You people have never watched River Monsters with Jeremy Wade and it shows.
Name checks out, hay seed
Is that what my teeth suppose to look like?
Is this an example of convergent evolution?
Hey it is! Kinda. I Think.
But why are human teeth shaped like this in the front? Not so much for nuts, right?
I thought the same thing so I looked into it! The pacu fish’s front teeth aren’t flat like ours. They’re more like our molars, which serve the same purpose of being used for crushing (so it technically still is convergent evolution)
Niiice—and thank you!!
Anytime! An opportunity to learn should always be used :)
That article you linked literally starts with
We apologize in advance for the nightmarish qualities inherent to the pacu fish
No. Nope. No way. Uh uh. I’m not scrolling down. NEVER. You hear me? I have enough nightmares as it is…
Honestly I don’t blame you given the pictures of them with their teeth out
Exactly.

Sounds like propaganda from Big Almond.
Is this some Midwest Big Apple?
When the Japanese finally get their teeth generation DNA therapy going, everyone will be after these fish for starter scaffolds.
