I don’t think they were implying trump assassinated Epstein personally; but rather ordered the hit.
Given we’re talking about a supposed peadophile with a litany of accusers in his wake; I wouldn’t say telling someone else to end the guy keeping a black book with all the dirty history is far fetched at all. The murder happened whilst trump was president; and trump evidently had a lot of close ties with Epstein (alluding to the possibility that he had a lot if not the most to lose… Should Epstein turncoat to save his own skin etc…).
I don’t think ordering a hit is something that requires a spine; in the name of self preservation, one could even argue it’s a cowardly act.
I have doubts Trump was involved in Epstein’s death. I don’t think he has the spine for that sort of stuff.

Ordered shows too much action and initiative. I’d go with “Was made aware of on the golf course”.
