Even if I didn’t, my opinion would still be valid. Are left wing folks who don’t align with corporate Democrats a large enough group to influence elections, or small enough not to matter?

If the former, you need to work with us and refusing to do so is a failure of the Democratic party and its base. If the latter, then you are no better than a playground bully beating up a weaker kid because they lost a different fight.

A failure of its base? 70 million people failed? Well goddamn.

And also bullshit. The choice was fascism or not and a shit ton of likely well-meaning but seriously wrong shitheads decided now was the time for a protest (non) vote.

We all want better candidates, no shit. But not voting or pissing away one’s vote on a Putin-licker like Jill Stein or a write-in is not just idiocy, it’s unconscionable. And there were a lot of them parading through here last year, deigning to lecture us bourgeoise on our moral failings. So fuck them. They fucked up and they need to know it.

What if everyone who voted for Kamala was wrong? What if 70 million people were right and everyone should have just voted for someone else? After all this is a democracy?

If you can’t tell I’m being purposefully idiotic because your opinion is dumber than shit and I think you deserve to be treated as such.

Refusing to hold the Democratic Party accountable is enabling the behavior that leads to those piss-poor candidates.

It’s absolutely a failure of the base that spends all of their energy blaming the people they need to be working with, and then getting all angry when those people feel too alienated to vote with them.

Everyone who still refuses to blame the Democratic Party for 2016 fucked up and they need to know it.

Im hope im wrong, but i feel now more then ever democrats dont feel the need to listen to anyone but their donors. Because what are you gonna do, vote republican? The Trump stove is bright hot and people are willing to do anything to remove their hand at all costs, even if it means putting the burnt flesh in a pile of shit.

Literal hostage situation. The costs are sunk, the walls are up. there will be no democracy, just commands from our “betters”. Stop resisting or else yous gets the republicans again

You can feel however you want, the fact is one party gets us closer to where we want to be, the other party puts us much farther back from where we want to be and there is no third option.

It will be the same in a year. The time when we have a chance to stop this insanity. It’d be swell if we could all, y’know, do that.

            Define that.

blaming the people they need to be working with

The people who can’t be bothered to defeat a demented rapist with nuclear codes? Wow i can’t wait to do whatever they say. They seem really smart. Clearly the fast track to progress.

Everyone who still refuses to blame the Democratic Party for 2016

Because they didn’t vote for themselves? The choice was insanity or a flawed candidate that would get us to the next rung. Propaganda won the day as it does when the fourth estate fails catastrophically.

You’re the one who started this whole thing blaming lefties for the current situation. Go edit in an apology for that if you want to keep talking.

You’re very obviously misinterpreting everything I’m saying on purpose, so I don’t expect you to even understand this comment.

I blame American lefty non-voters, yes. They fucked up. There will be no apology for that obvious, factual statement.

Is that too convoluted? You too could piece together some communication so sophisticated, surely.

I’m not saying there aren’t things to fix in the DNC - far from it. But our present befuckededness was 100% avoidable and a large group of so-called “lefties” chose fascism instead. It’s that simple.

No apology. Not that you’d be willing to admit the illegitimacy of 2016’s primaries anyway. “Things to fix” is a very weak description of throwing away democracy and then propagandizing goons like you to blame the disenfranchised for what happened next.

                    Throwing away democracy? Lemming, please.

You want trump? You got him. It’s dead simple.

(“Propagandizing goon”? Lol. Whatever.) I blame non-voters. If they are disenfranchised as well then yes. It turns out i blame them. The bare minimum for involvement is to vote. If they’re so scarred by Bernie not winning the West that they can’t participate in the government, they’ll lose that government. And have.

No absolutely every voter counts, what I’m getting at is voting for people who obviously aren’t going to win is a thrown away vote. A vote democrats COULD use. Idk how much more I can work with you. I vote in big and small elections, which is sadly more than I can say for a lot of people.

          Literally you in these comments:

I realize that, but their wording leaves it open to interpretation like maybe they didn’t vote democrat at all. In which case nothing they say is valid imo.

That’s completely at odds with this comment I’m replying to.

You said my opinion wasn’t valid if I didn’t vote Democrat. Then went on to say that all voters are valid. Your first comment is the kind that people like me have been getting particularly strongly in the last 3 cycles, even if we do vote Democrat but dare to express a counter opinion.

I see it everywhere, and that wears me down and makes me, someone who barely bites my tongue to vote for Democrat after Democrat that I don’t believe should be president, want even less to do with the party whose vocal supporters blame my ideology and tell us we’re invalid.

It’s why I had such a strong reaction in my initial comment. That first one I replied to is par for the course blaming the far left for the failings of centrist Democrats, saying what the Republicans are doing is our fault. It’s tired, derisive, and I don’t give a shit about playing nice after a decade of this firehose of unfounded blame.

No one should feel bad for flaming the blue conservatives. They literally are running a spoiler candidate in NY right now. The mask isn’t off, its been shredded and tossed in the bin by the side of road.

Frankly I’m worn down by Trump eroding our rights every single day. But yeah I guess comments from online strangers is close 2nd for wearing on my mental fatigue. Bottom line is if you voted democrat, great idk what else you can do besides going above and beyond. I only blame non-voters, Trump-voters and people who voted 3rd party… everyone else, you’re all good to me. Hopefully we see some real change soon because I don’t see how much longer we can run this course.

I am too, but on top of that I’m worn down much more by people blaming the group not in power (progressive voters) that was fighting for real change instead of blaming the group that was in power (the Democratic Party in general) and is in power (the Democratic Party in internal politics).

I can’t do anything about Trump. I literally did everything I could against him, including voting for primary candidates that didn’t go on to lose against him. So when people like you tell me my opinion is only valid if I voted the right way, I seethe at the idea that you’re not blaming the people who actually have the power to put forward popular candidates but choose not to. You’re blaming and being dismissive and derisive to the wrong group. Your discourse in this thread is exactly what keeps the Democrats an ineffective opposition.
