In my opinion, what may have happened:
Trump lackey found out at the last minute about the segment and ordered it pulled. But said order did not get to Global either due to lack of communication channel, incompetence or malicious compliance(oops we/I forgot to tell them).
It ran on Global. Canada’s answer to Fox News and based out of Alberta. They are extremely pro-US and if any mainstream Canadian TV network was going to force pro-Trump content, they are at the top of that list.
Global is owned by Corus, which was spun off from Shaw in ‘99. Corus is headquartered in Toronto. Where did you get your information from?

…okay but I hope you can admit that while Global news is the Canadian mainstream news media equivalent to Fox News, that there is a huge difference between the two. I’d still consider Global news as reputable a source as any other mainstream Canadian news broadcaster. Whereas I don’t consider Fox News to be news, journalism or anything other than propaganda and entertainment.
Yes. That said, they are extremely biased and anything on oil and gas, labour, government, or US politics I will use them as an initial source to go off and fund a viable source from.
I view them as propaganda first, news second.
Global isn’t Canada’s answer to Fox News. Canada doesn’t have a Fox News.
Also, did it actually air on Global? From what I heard it was available on their app. That’s more plausible because it’s a different pathway. Instead of just simultaneously airing what’s being aired in the US, they have to break it up into different segments which they load up on some CDN.

A 60 Minutes segment about CECOT was pulled from the air in the US but aired in Canada, supposedly by mistake according to US news outlets. It covered the horrible treatment, abuse, and wrongful detention of prisoners there, which apparently the US news corps didn’t like

I couldn’t find the vid released in Canada. I did find someone that read a transcript of it. Not sure how long that will be up before youtube trump suckers pull it down for bullshit reasons.
It’s on torrents though.
I grew up poor, and was always too chickenshit to risk my PC on downloading. Watching a stream is always something that felt safer to me, so it’s the first thing I look for. Although after some more searching, I found the internet archive version of it. I posted it on lemmy world news.
It is funny, because streaming downloads to your computer as well. It just doesn’t save the file.

Nobody goes after torrenting in Canada, it’s effectively legal (not actually, but it’s difficult to get a conviction, and as a result is not enforced). Essentially, if you’re not making money from piracy, they don’t care.

What I posted was someone reading a transcript. When the actual videos were posted to youtube, CBS started doing copyright claims to take it down. I did eventually find the clip on internet archive.

It was going to be pulled in Canada too. It was a simple mistake that it wasn’t.
Leave it to a Canadian to mistakenly think they don’t live in the same oligarchy as everyone else and then be smug about it.
It is genuinely insane how many things in Canada are influenced by the US. Remember that trucker protest? Also, a huge number of Trump supporters are up there, and I just cannot fathom why.
