Wasn’t his whole campaign based around isolationism? I think it’s the one policy that pretty much everybody actually agreed with.

The US needs to stop getting involved in situations because it always ends badly. Always.

Of course it turns out he was lying about that too. Classic.

Capital interests have purposely eroded all of our attention spans and ability to follow politics precisely for the purposes of staging candidates who can just say whatever people want to hear in the moment. But neither Trump nor his base actually care about politics. Not domestic policy, not foreign policy. Not any policy.

The American public, who largely voted for Trump without even really knowing why (check exit polling, it’s wildly depressing how little people cared or understood anything about the race) just wanted to be part of a narrative for a little while but immediately lost interest in whatever was going to happen in politics on a federal level.

People are still largely ignorant or apathetic. There is some isolated protesting and a lot of pushback from people who still care about the system, but it’s not going to go anywhere because people broadly don’t care enough. Time to go back to scrolling for momentary doses of entertainment.
