I always vote, down to the lowest of local elections. I’ve never missed any and will always remain active.

But I do disagree with you. If you know your broad human history, you should know that there’s nothing that indicates that we’re guaranteed a solution. You seem to not realize that there very well may not be a good solution at all. You have to be more realistic.

Keep voting of course. will too. But overall I think we’re probably fucked.

In my opinion this is a very different sentiment than what was expressed above, and I am largely in agreement with you.

There might not be a better plan, if that’s a a clearer way to say it.

(I don’t mean that sarcastically, no tone of voice on the internet).

What about that broader human history? Not the first time someone has said “I rule forever now” and the population said “the fuck you aren’t”. Make sure that history is not “The people of X could do nothing against the evil power of dictator Y, until the US swooped in and saved everyone”

Nowhere in my response did I say “humans have a 0% success rate.” Quote me if I did.

I said you can’t ignore that sometimes we fail, and there simply isn’t a solution, which you can’t ignore. Especially if you do want to succeed.

It’s about moves, not solutions. You’re hardly ever out of things to do. No matter how small, the important part is to keep trying. Focusing on the ineffability* of finding a solution is just pointless and counterproductive. Don’t think of what must be done in the sense of what’s “correct”, because there’s no such thing. “History offers no control groups”, so you can only try and do what you believe the right thing is. Looking away definitely isn’t.

I also didn’t say you said that tbh. Not sure where you got that from?

              * anti-prententiousness disclaimer, sometimes I have to look up words I think of in my native language in the dictionary to see if they exist and seem close enough. Something out of “the reach of your mind”
