Good time to remember that there’s a lot that can be done that makes life hard for an invading force at multiple layers of passivity. You don’t have to always comply. Put pressure on hotels to refuse business so they don’t have comfortable spaces to sleep, deny service and food to agents at markets and restaurants, create visual systems and codes amongst your immigrant neighbours so that they can be aware when you have recently spotted an agent. Offer places to hide or stay to people who have gained their ire or are likely targets, take courses in first aid or reach out to causes that need volunteers.
If you are more bold target things instead of people. Sugar in gas tanks, nails in tires, detergent thrown on windscreens, block roads they egress through regularly with things that take a long time to move or clean up that block roads or make them hazardous. Buildings have toilets that can be backed up or alarm systems that can disturb rest, phone numbers that can be found and spammed with bot callers or printers or faxes that can be sent endless jobs of black pages. Anything and everything that can be a minor annoyance, a problem that adds up or disables their ability to move, eat, sleep or relax.
So Minneapolis is going to be the modern day Fort Sumter.

I get wanting to fight back. I’m mad as hell. I want nothing more than most politicians (on both sides) and billionaires to be stripped of all their wealth and power, and many of them to never see the outside of a cell. I just want to avoid being a statistic, or living with the memories of dead loved ones and bombed out neighborhoods.

The facade is broken. The goal of the Trump administration is to tear down the last scraps of democracy standing in their way. He’s escalating and we are so close to an all out war, but there’s also a reason this entire thing has been dragged out for as long as it has. There’s a reason he hasn’t just sent the military and Palantir drones into cities (yet). He needs at least some corporate support to survive and corporations still need people to continue to buy their shit. This is literally why he is starting a war in Venezuela, and taking over the Venezuelan state run oil company that until now was collecting 61% of Chevron’s profits.
He has tanked the economy, and he is hemorrhaging support like he slashed his own wrists in a warm bathtub. For a civil war to break out, one “side” of the country turning on the other is kind of a necessity. Right now, there is no “side” for Americans to really fight. There’s just Trump and his illiterate group of SS soldiers who are losing more and more support from his base by the day. Encouraging people to help him out by officially kicking off the “civil war” for him and attacking the fucking military police, is giving him exactly what he wants, and is about as shitty and transparent as encouraging somebody to go ahead and leave their finger prints on the gun you know will be used to frame them.
The South isn’t the only issue here.
What truly went wrong is the aftermath of WW2. Nazis shouldn’t have been let off as easily as they were - especially the ones that escaped justice to countries like Argentina.
That easy-handedness allowed the ideology to survive just long enough for those who saw the atrocities to mostly die off, and to plan ahead and arise through “backdoor channels” on the fringes of society, let that be the Neo-Nazi skinhead or biker groups, incels, or other similar brainwashed extremities of people - generally tons of dim-witted morons misled easily by the handful of intelligent, actually morally fucked ones in charge.
I too hope the US manages another civil war and gets broken up, because the political imbalance both internally due to the fucked up, rigid political systems and externally due to the constant influence they exert over others, is not tenable. A more EU-like approach between the 50 states (plus DC plus PR) would be much more beneficial to both the states and the world.
The South was never properly reconstructed. We got rid of legal slavery, granted the right to vote, and then fucked off back to the North. That’s why the South is the butt of every joke about education, poverty, and provincialism. And those factors combine to make it a breeding ground for those ideologies.
And the South is Trump’s powerbase. It’s where he gets all his ICE agents, his grip on the Senate, House, and EC, etc.
Yeah. We should have finished the job there and de-KKK’ed the South like they did denazification in Germany.
Certainly we should have known things were way off course when they were allowed to put up statues of traitors to this country.

It’s easy for folks in places like Minnesota to pretend they aren’t racist when they barely ever interact with people of other races to begin with.
Make no mistake: it’s rural people in all states who are bigots, not southerners. The only reason states in the south are still “red” is that they tend to have slightly higher percentages of rural populations than blue states do.

Civil wars aren’t ordinary election campaigns, they mobilise different groups.

No constitutional right will ever go unviolated and wild gangs of unarmed women and children will no longer roam freely through their own neighborhoods terrorizing the streets of America.
As long as team fedduccini foreskin is on the job, occupying cities, keeping America safe, and making America great again by murdering civilians and holding Americans in psychological captivity (or possibly even in physical captiity if you look at them the wrong way) Americans can rest easy.
