While the stock market may love the term "AI," companies haven't figured out how to optimally monetize the services that go along with it.

      So much fucking this.

      Every cash grab right now around AI is just a frontend for a chatGPT API. And every investor who throws money at them is the mark. And now they’re crying a river.

        They are literally AI, neural networks specifically. As are path finding algorithms for games.

        People just don’t get what AI is. Any program that simulates intelligence is AI.

        You’re likely thinking of general AI from sci-fi.

        I don’t know about you, but I would consider writing papers/books/essays/etc. (even bad ones) and code (even with mistakes) intelligent human behavior, and they’re pretty good at imitating it.
