AI tldr;

Protesters gathered at a congressional building in Washington to demand a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas conflict. The demonstration resulted in numerous arrests and occupied a congressional building, which is generally not permitted. Three were charged with assault on a police officer.

    Well that’s fucking awful. Please don’t imitate the January 6th people and give them whataboutism ammunition.

        Get ready for people to equate peaceful sit-ins to encourage a voluntary change in opinion with the Jan 6th violent attempt to overthrow the government simply because both were in government buildings when they weren’t supposed to be.

      Where would be a better place to reach the representatives representing them? Walmart? A random highway? Maybe they should stay home and yell at the television so you’re more comfortable?

    If people want to protest, it should be outside the capital. Protesting inside the capital does nothing for their cause.

      Yeah, why don’t they go protest somewhere else where no one will see them. That will surely do something for their cause.

        I meant outside the building. No where did I suggest people protest in hiding. Protesting is a right, but maybe not protesting inside the Capital. At least some of the Jan 6th insurrection “protesters” were peaceful, and they were also rightfully arrested and charged.

          Gotcha, I thought you meant the “Capital” as in the capital city Washington DC since you spelled it with an A, not “Capitol” with an O which would refer to the building.

        They could just protest in front of the capital. No need to go inside and disrupt…Whatever the hell they are doing in there right now, but otherwise might be conducting government business.

          normally I would say your right and they would be more visible outside but if its specifically the house then no worry about them possibly conducting government business right now. Might delay a few failed votes for a speaker.

        I’ve participated in protests where the protest leads specifically explain that there’s a huge chance of arrest and what to say/how to handle.

        I’ve been “arrested” for protesting once, where we were just collected, ID’ed, and then dropped off at a park a few miles away.
