It’s perhaps worse when they pepper-spray an elderly person in the face, but every assault by federal agents on citizens should peeve everyone all the time.
every assault by federal agents on citizens
Or non-criminals in general, including non-citizens, for that matter.
Nah you don’t need an exception there for criminals. If someone isn’t holding a gun, an officer should never have a gun out.
Everyone is innocent until the trials over, so there are no criminals being arrested in the street unless they broke out of jail/prison.
So if a dash/door/body w.e can shows officers taking someone to the ground without showing the person putting up a fight first, the officers should be suspended pending the trials for assault/battery for any involved.
More accurate headline:
[Fascist Paramilitary sprayed chemical irritants on] NYC woman, 72, in the face [because they felt like it]. Gov. Hochul [let people sue, but won’t prevent issues like this from happening again].

You’re a big fan of the “more accurate headline” shtick, huh?
Yes, I think we should be accurate in our words and we should not be afraid to say what things are.
I would editorialize the post headline if that was allowed in this community.
Editorizing generally makes things less accurate. I assume you dislike it when a far right publication editorializes a headline, yes?
There is no such thing as objective journalism.
I would prefer journalists write what they actually think and feel then to try to hide behind creative word choice to influence readers.
I wouldn’t say Epstein had sex with underage women, I would say he raped children.
Hey, farm all the fake internet points you want. It seems silly bordering on infantile to me, but what do I know? Maybe throw in some extra “slams” for good measure haha.
Farming internet points on checks notes Lemmy?
I’m not sure what you’re implying.
I don’t think it’s silly to share the news of the crimes of a fascist regime.
I don’t think it is infantile to call things by the words they actually are.
I will continue to do this, I dont need your approval.
I agree with your first and last sentences, but that second one is iffy. In the example above, you’re kind of making stuff up to suit your narrative in some of your edits. “As they actually are” is overselling some of it. It would be like changing “School encourages students to stay hydrated” to “Government education facility pressures children to consume dihydrogen monoxide”. It’s not strictly wrong, but it’s also a worse title than the original, and arguably misleading.
Do you see what I mean?
It’s validated because the media constantly softballs the headlines whenever the government abuses its authority.
