I play a similar game sometimes, inspired by this one.
Any time I read the page of anything about media, I try to make my way back to Will Oldham. It’s shockingly easy for an artist most people have never heard of
Title made me think this was just an article explaining the well known Kevin Bacon thing, but it’s so much more than that!
Very well put together, lots of fun data to sift through. Turns out Bacon is not the centre of Hollywood and never has been.
Glad I read this comment, this is the most !dataisbeautiful@lemmy.world appropriate visualisation I’ve seen for a long time

All that data and they never mentioned that Kevin Bacon kind of rhymes with Separation and that made his name the best fit, given that six degrees of separation was already a phrase.
My mother worked at a company that also employed the mother of Brendan Fraser, who was in The Air I Breathe (2007) with Keven Bacon.
So my Bacon Number is 4 despite not being an actor.
Myspoiler
Samuel L. Jackson ::: number is actually 1 higher.
The company in question was a cemetery. My mom did telemarketing, they called it the “pre-need” dept.
Mines also relatively low, one of my mom’s old coworkers husbands did set design or something on a Kevin Bacon film in the 90s.
On the plus side, no advertisements.
Yeah, but how can you connect Kevin Bacon to Hitler?
Adolf Hitler was in a number of propaganda films, including 1940’s The March for the Fuhrer, with German actress Elsa Wagner. Wagner starred in The Pedestian with Maximilian Schell, who starred in Telling Lies in America with Kevin Bacon.
Good job!
Man, fuck that site. It’s got a draggy animation that punked my browser out hard enough the article wouldn’t load.
There does not seem to be anything more than an explanation of the 6 degrees game. What am I missing?
