The Obamacare customers who faced staggering premium increases heading into 2026 are about to be hit with another double-digit price hike in 2027.
Most people who buy health coverage in the Affordable Care Act marketplaces benefit from subsidies that will protect them from price increases. But the small group of Obamacare consumers who earn more than $64,000 in most states do not qualify for financial help. They faced the biggest increases this year, and they are staring down even higher prices for 2027.
Just how much will depend on their age and where they live.

I have been a huge advocate for Obamacare, and I’ve been off and on it since it’s inception depending on my work offerings. I don’t get any subsidies and don’t mind paying more than other people due to my income. In fact, I’d rather pay even more so older people aren’t charged more just for continuing to exist. What I cannot stand is how the government (Rs generally, but I know plenty of Ds don’t care), is so blasé about making it worse and worse every year. I just want universal healthcare and it really should not be this hard. Everyone should be able to live. I have no idea why that’s such a foreign concept.
I agree with all you said. However, even though the ACA was only passed in 2010, we have a new generation of adults that have never had to worry about preexisting conditions, swiss cheese insurance, or lack of well care and vaccines. Obamacare (ACA) has lots of shortcomings, but these new adults have no idea how much better it is now that it was pre-ACA. I don’t like the politicians are at war with the ACA trying to make it worse.
The real solution is single payer universal coverage.
