Today I finished setting up local searxng on NixOS. I made it so that when the searxng module is enabled the searxng will get added to firefox as custom and default search engine which is pretty neat.
E: Otherwise if the module is disabled then ddg is used as a fallback.
Also, the more difficult your Linux distribution is to use, the more respect you’ll receive.
E.g. Ubuntu < NixOS < LFS
