As someone whos grew up on iPhones this feels reasonable for a high end product…

Reasonable is $900. Just because apple made a $2000 phone doesn’t mean everyone does.

Oh my damn. I expected something expensive, but this is just way above what I expected.

The Graphene developers did say that future plans could entail even broader Motorola support from GrapheneOS, for cheaper models too. Let’s hope this will be the case…

Personally, I already balked at the size of the screen (~6.8"). The ridiculous price is just the final nail in the coffin.

      Mini tablets were 7 inches.

It’s ridiculous; how am I meant to fit something half the size of my dick in my pocket?

Yikes, I hadn’t looked into the screen size until you mentioned it. They seem to be going after the XL / tablet size type of devices, exactly the ones that I avoid. Oh well, maybe they’ll eventually release a phone with a more normal screen size closer to 6.3".

Yah… Thats too much, if they cut that in half I would ignore it not being up to the repairability standards of fairphone, but if I cant expect that device to last 10 years then ill just wait for the next one…

Wow, this is really disappointing. I’ve been waiting for this to upgrade my older phone and finally get on GrapheneOS without using a Pixel. This is just straight up unaffordable for a large majority of the population. Shame on Motorola and Lenovo for this price point. Did you even try to read the room? Maybe someone will release a cheaper GrapheneOS phone next year. I’m sick of waiting for something reasonable to show up.

I honestly would consider it if it had SD card support. I would have purchased it instantly if it came with SD card support and a damn headphone jack. I’m the market for this freaking phone why don’t they figure out what we’re actually asking for?

I don’t understand the complaint about a headphone jack. They make dongles for USBC to headphone. Plug it into your headphone and forget it’s there.

If you need to power at the same time, buy a dongle with a splitter.

3.5 mm headphone jack is much 𝕞𝕦𝕔𝕙 𝖒𝖚𝖈𝖍 more robust than USB-C port. You can slingshot your phone by the headphone cable, and both the phone and the cable will be fine.

USB-C socket gets slightly bent and you cannot charge your phone.

It’s also at the bottom of the phone, so you cannot hold it normally, while the headphone jack is at the top.

I miss the audio jack and agree with you, but all my phones always had audio jack on the bottom not far from the USB port

Many of my past phones had the headphone jack on the bottom. I don’t think there is a standard.

So your power/data USB C port can snap off?

How about we have the boys in engineering work up a more durable dedicated audio port for something that will be plugged in when on the go?

        We can give it:

A solid, round metal plug for infinite 360-degree rotation, neutralizing cable-twist strain that would otherwise warp a rigid USB-C port.

A hollow-tunnel design with out the fragile internal circuit “tongue” found in USB-C, making it nearly impossible to snap or bend through accidental force.

And as a bonus, heavy-duty internal spring contacts that tolerate dirt and high insertion counts, and linear release mechanism so the cable will pop out cleanly during a violent tug instead of tearing up the phone’s internal electronics.

We can call this MIRACLE as the 3.5mm headphone jack. The kids will love it!

The point they are trying to make is that an ubersecure phone with GrapheneOS will have a certain target demographic.

Among that target demographic SD card slots have a demand.

I can’t help it if people have not yet realized the huge cost of memory is a major factor in phone price increases, and that SD cards are a great way to have your full media library on your phone without being beholden to “the cloud”.

Goddammit, and here I was hoping I could finally get a phone with a Snapdragon for decent emulation. As much as I love Graphene, I may try out something like LineageOS for my next phone.

    Freedom and moral improvement?

    Charge them an unreasonable price.

    A jail you carry around?

    Affordable time!

I’m still fine with my Motorola phone.
