Legacy media is only interested in whitewashing Israeli crimes.
Complicit in*
the silence after this comment is called “tacit approval.” See the problem, media?
No shock here. A majority of the world is on a stance of “anything/anyone against the state of Israel is antisemitism”. This is such a false equivalency. Just because something/someone is against what the government of Israel, does not mean it/they are hateful towards the Jewish people. Hell, making such an equivalency is placing actually Jewish people in an unintended hate group.

Hey, please remove the language “totalitarian” and be more specific with your language. We’re finding a lot of holocaust trivialization recently and words like “totalitarian” and “authoritarian” can be used to blur the line
I guess USSR was democratic then.
Some context.
Additional context located under Leading Role of Communist Party. I would argue that one party/the federal government having full constitutional control over who’s on the ballet leans more Authoritarian than Democratic.
I feel like reading through that just makes it feel like the USSR was more democratic back then than we are now.
I definitely can’t argue with the world’s constant decline towards fascism and authoritarianism. Though that doesn’t discount the authoritarian tendencies that existed in the Soviet Union that stop it from qualifying as a true democracy.
Yes
This isn’t an argument, please edit the comment.
Majority of the government in the West. I am sure if you start reading news from arabic media you will see a completely different story.
The problem is that international law is applied differently based on the country abusing it. And Israel is trying to shape the news perspective, by its bot army in English speaking of outlets and pushing hard a media campaign trying to discredit everyone who is not acting according to their interest.
Their foreign minister is posting some despicable videos and trying to link Spain and Hamas and claim that Spain is complicit in war crimes is nothing but despicable and shows the morale of all their government.
If I criticize the government of Venezuela it doesn’t mean I hate all Latinos.
Let me introduce you to an interesting theory.
Yeah but israel also burnt babies alive surely the media would be in shambles about tha…
I fully believe you (and I can’t believe I’m asking for this) but do you have a source?
‘Bodies everywhere’: the horrors of Israel’s strike on a Rafah camp
He raced towards the sound, terrified for his wife, children and friends. A vision of hell lay ahead, so gruesome he started shaking from shock. “I saw bodies everywhere. Children burning. I saw heads without bodies, the injured running around in pain, some alive but trapped inside burning tents.”
Dude there’s videos online but they’re obscenely graphic.
I fully believe you (and I can’t believe I’m asking for this) but do you have a source
wait so, why would you believe someone and then ask for a source?
Why not just like, ask for a source? You can ask someone for a source while still believing them, you might just want more information for example.
1-Because I’ve had some people online get real defensive when I’ve asked for sources
2-Cause I was a few shots deep by that point so I just kinda say things
1-Because I’ve had some people online get real defensive when I’ve asked for sources
i mean i get it, but that should show someone elses character more than yours.
2-Cause I was a few shots deep by that point so I just kinda say things
fair enough honestly
Sounds about right. The Israel Lobby is fucking strong.
Joy Reid of MSNBC went on record yesterday saying she finally saw the actual beheaded
IsraeliPalestinian baby photosfrom October 7th.Is there anything substantiated with this?I’ll see if I can find the program and block.
Edit: Found it — The ReidOut - Podcast - May 28, 2024 @~28m23s
Edit 2: I got the context wrong. Thanks @Psychodelic@lemmy.world for the correction.
The substance is that she lied.
I think it’s bullshit, too.
It’s a bit strange for her to make a definitive statement this late. Why now?
Edit: Joy Reid was referring to Palestinian babies. I corrected my OP.
There’s no repercussions.
Almost all major western propaganda outlets claimed they saw photo and video evidence of rape. Something that we now know is a massive lie since the UN investigation showed there was zero evidence only oral testimonies.
I just listened to this, it’s actually a bit before your timestamp, but based on the context of the conversation there having, it seems like they’re talking about actually seeing the dead Palestinian kids. When she says “them” it seems to me like she’s saying we’ve now actually seen decapitated kids, whereas as before we only had hearsay
Thanks, I’ll re-listen and edit. I certainly don’t want to cast an unwarranted aspergion.
Edit: You’re absolutely correct, the dialog required careful attention. I’ll fix my post.

At this point, they’re just stuck in denial
man, it’s almost like hyper politicized, hyper-narrative stories. Don’t actually do much, or something.
Wondering how long it’s going to take the media, and people to realize that war is just, bad. Wait until you guys find out what russia has done to their domestic population, as well as ethnic minority groups, and prisoners. Remember the sledge hammer video? Yeah, me too.
Where can I find the actual video of the decapitations? It looks like uploads might be taken down? Tons of tweets saying it’s everywhere on the internet, but I don’t use Twitter and I can’t find any uploads.

Ok, Israel decapitated Palestinian babies and the media are not reporting it.
Oh, well, that’s alright then.
It was on NPR’s Up First today, and I’d read it elsewhere too.
From Up First:
Disturbing description of violence against children
[A witness] says he found one kid with his stomach sliced and his intestines out. Another child had been decapitated. He also said he saw children in body parts.
That sounds like beheading, then.
Decapitating, because there isn’t evidence of intent. Just phenomenally cruel and negligent dropping a bomb anywhere near civilians, especially at that density. Then again, I suppose intent gets fuzzy given how foreseeable something like this was.
Right, and the one kid wasn’t disemboweled, they had spontaneous oopsy-doodles-guts-all-noodles, and the other wasn’t dismembered, they went red-rover-red-rover-your-limbs-are-all-over.
Disemboweling is disemboweling, dismemberment is dismemberment, neither one has any bearing on intent. Beheading implies the bombs were dropped at least in part to decapitate children, which there is zero evidence of. But again, I don’t think the intent distinction necessarily matters that much, given that Israel bombed an area where this was a foreseeable outcome.
I don’t think intent is required. Behead’s definition says “cut off the head of (someone), especially as a form of execution.” The especially part means it isn’t exclusive to that.
Both Be-head and De-capit(ate) = Off-head
I think this is just one of those “language is complicated” things. I’m seeing multiple definitions out there. I don’t know really how much it matters, it starts to approach a semantic argument and getting away from the actual concrete events that have occurred.
As someone who watched the video, I don’t think anyone in that situation cares about your distinction.
There’s a video? My morbid curiosity…
I’ve seen enough shock images posted online for a lifetime already. The audio from the witness on NPR’s Up First was enough.
No they aren’t.
Decapitate is used in the definition of behead.
Behead is used in the definition of decapitate. What kind of weird-ass apologia are you doing here anyway.
You’re trying to deflect from a story about murdered Palestinian children with a “Well, ackchyually…”
What a piece of shit
Thank God, I was worried for a brief moment.
Oh my god, shut the fuck up.
Thanks for informing us. Of course you know this isn’t the most important thing about this, but at least I learned something new.
I’m not sure how material the difference is, but you’re correct: beheading is deliberate decapitation. I assume they’re just being sloppy about definitions.
I’m pretty sure that dropping a 2000lb bomb on a refugee camp is deliberate.
