By his logic—we may as well just bury this guy alive, he’s just going to die anyways.

Another billionaire tech founder demonstrating that these are exactly the people who need to be kept as far away as possible from positions of influence in our society.

Even ignoring the selfish elitist tone, this is like saying “things won’t be perfect, so why even try?” I hate defeatism, especially when it harms all of us.

Its probably not defeatism, just a billionaire tech sociopath trying to pump his investments in data centers.

These Google guys are such a disappointment. They could’ve done something inspirational, but what have they done?

Did he also say “And do not quote me” the same way he did when he told people to just steal what they want and hire lawyers to clean up the mess if they were successful?

“It’s easier to ask forgiveness than it is to ask permission” was coined by Admiral Grace Hopper for use in a very different context. It is intended to mean that, when dealing with a beaurocracy like the military, it is often easier to ask forgiveness than to ask permission.

She certainly wouldn’t have intended for it to be used in the context of theft.

So much for don’t be evil.

At least as the planet burns, it will be because we now have AI that tells us to superglue our pizza together or jump off the Golden Gate Bridge. Whatever would we do without it?

And if AI decided that the fastest way to make a difference with climate change was to guillotine all the billionaires, he’d be on board? Because I can save all that spend and tell him right now that removing that number of super polluters who consistently lobby against environmental protections would make a noticeable impact.

“Because it’s a universal technology, and because it’s the arrival of an alien intelligence… we may make mistakes with respect to how it’s used, but I can assure you that we’re not going to get there through conservation.”

I can’t understand what he’s saying, even though it’s in english. Did AI mean Alien Intelligence all this time?
