I think the world liberal is used… Liberally. I usually equate it in the US political term for left of center (or rather the opposite of conservatives), but I know the entire US political system is hijacked - both “sides” answer to the same overlords
Why do you use the liberal label? I’ve been hearing this “China bad” shit from the right for years
My experience has been that computer science is a huge umbrella term to normies. Many people, including hiring managers seem to thing computer science is more of a trade education where people come out knowing everything about excel, windows, PowerPoint, file conversions, obscure knowledge of ancient software, expertise in setting up enterprise printers, etc
I was developing software for a position I was in, and everyone was shocked I was a developer… (It was a devops job where everyone basically edited yaml or json files all day long…)
People who disagree with you are people who never spent time with the ultra rich. I’ve had the pleasure to hang in those circles and it was absolutely eye opening the complete disdain that social class has toward the working class. It’s so fucking crazy that one has to see it for themselves to truly appreciate the hate they have for everyone not in their economic circles.
Preach on brother, but I also understand why the plebs don’t believe you
Republicans live in blue states also
But are the wine producers Republicans? I tend to find they are
We spent way more than one Trillion…
Never underestimate the stupidity and mental gymnastics of conservatives
Right - first option survive the storm, next option… Murder? Steal? Pillage? (I’m stretching what you said, but it was implied). This is the very possible future we all might be living in, so again to OP’s point about spiting your nose/face. Basically I find the moves of Trump to be catastrophic and the potential of where it might lead us is… Horrific
I’ll take a stab at it:
-There won’t be another job for him to take (see first point).
-He makes shit money so he has nothing saved up.
-social nets and government help is being systematically wiped out.
-It’s the streets now, and for many others like him. Where does this lead? Massive uptick in crime, and a lot of crime everywhere. Everyone is fucked - those who currently care and those who currently don’t care.
My guy, everything has changed and yet nothing has changed. You are arguing specifics while I’m arguing bigger picture. I’m not saying your wrong or I’m wrong, I just think we have a different view and measuring with a different kind of ruler, and yet I don’t think we are really in disagreement, this seems to be arguing over semantics of what videos were in ~95 (very low res and shit quality fyi) and how many people had access to those shit quality videos - I’m just saying they were always there
It’s still the same bullshit - people looking at text on their terminals. Be it SMS, be it discord, etc. people looking at images, listening to music, etc. inb4 “durr durr no 4k res in 95”, no shit
I really don’t know what your crusade is with this topic, but I actually do have(and still use) the same computer I had in the late 90’s - SGI Indigo2 Extreme I got when I bought Alias PowerAnimator. Me and you were absolutely not doing the same stuff with our systems
My guy, wtf were you doing in the 90’s on a computer? of course we didn’t have streaming or just stupid useless videos that litter YouTube now, but there were video files all over the place to download and watch. For whatever reason, people were making the time and effort to digitize videos. Mpeg codecs came out in the early 90’s - I specifically remember efnet irc members posting urls to mpegs of Weird Japanese vomit porn. Amiga scene was strong too, (video toaster came out in 1990…). Not really sure why you even feel the need to doubt any of this
But then we have to suffer dealing with them for a few billion years lol
Oh brother the Grammar nerds are here, as if that really takes away from what I’m saying.
In the mid and late 90’s people knew how to make videos, they didn’t link a YouTube URL but did post links to where one could find a video online, and IRC has bots that did file transfers, as well as people would use public ftp’s as file dumping grounds.
I was there from the start, you must of never BBS’d or IRC’d - shit was amazing in the early days.
I mean honestly nothing has really changed - we are still at our terminals looking at text. Only real innovation has been inline pics, videos and audio. 30+ years ago one had to click a link to see that stuff
Great comment
I guess I find it confusing because (for me), the term liberal was used as a synonym for a lefty. I know left of US “liberals” don’t like liberals, but that’s more of a recent revelation to me
