Headline confused “despite” and “due to”
I have relatives who would get headaches if they didn’t get it. People’s bodies respond differently.
I don’t. I recently logged in just to see what i was missing. More than half my front page was ads, the next 30% was repost bots posting the generic questions for engagement. There were maybe 2-3 posts that were actual posts. I left.
No, but I’ve heard of plan 9 from outer space.
There’s a common thing known as “judge shopping”. The big wigs and those with enough money can ensure that a trial goes to a court in an area that is likely to be favorable to their interests.
For example, if a company is going to court because of something environmental or anti-worker, they’ll try to get the court session held in a conservative jurisdiction.
The league of women voters does a great job of presenting information and comparisons on each candidate. They also have a tool to help you make a ballot so you can remember your choices.
I’m not familiar with that term. What does that mean?
Oh, you’re a person. My bad. I thought with so many posts in such a short time that it was a bot.
Edit: it’s not a big deal. There’s a setting to mark an account as a bot. So I was more looking for that.
Edit 2. Here’s where I got the number from
Also, this is an account that’s 1 day old with 64 posts on news articles and doesn’t appear to be marked as a bot.
You’d think, but maybe not. One thing that China does is it’s really strict on not letting people bring money out of the country. I have friends that have money back home that they can’t get out of the country.
The main reason for that is that when the gov’t opens that up, billions start flowing out of the country really fast. So, if you leave, you’re leaving your money behind.
Something like that, except it’d be DeLarge and it’s in the system with a space and apparently case-insensitive
Edit/Update: It turns out that my last name has a capitol letter in the middle and they put a space in it. Thank god. I can actually vote this year.
Yep, not found
I see these things all over Latin America and stayed at a bunch of places that have them. It can get SUPER hot. The cool thing about them is that the pipes that heat the water are vacuum sealed and don’t heat the water directly. I forget the exact mechanics of it, but it pretty much doesn’t matter what the temperature is. It can take that solar energy and add it to water.
I was thinking the community could show you which ones it federated with and you could have a selection for which ones you want. Something like
This community federated with:
.ml | hexbear | .world
But that’s more of an implementation thing and could be done client side
To respond to questions about implementation, I was thinking something along the lines of communities are federated with each other.
Some workflows:
Posting
I want to make a post to c/tech, so I post on tech@lemm.ee, my post then gets federated to the other instance and shows up there. (Servers would want to add de-duping for people who are subbed to both)
Deleting my post
Similar to above, it gets marked as deleted on both
Mod action:
Mod on lemm.ee removes my post, the event and reason get federated. The other instance could be set up to follow the action or have a mod action to do anything with it.
But anyway, for now I’ll try to see if there’s a way to group communities, but I don’t think Sync for lemmy has that.
The reason I was thinking this is because this part of federation actually makes things harder. And then there’s the aspect of “where do you post this”, bc sometimes the community is bigger on another instance, so you cross post just because it’s essentially the same thing, just somewhere else.
That reminds me of how the US tried to censor the lesbian relationship in Sailor Moon by making them cousins. I’ll let you imagine how that worked out.
Sometimes censorship DOES make a better story 😂
This bot is off so often, and I just realized I never actually use it. I’m just gonna block it.
an instance admin typically is admin’ing the database. they can run whatever database query they want.
