Best bad movie of all time. It’s one of a few that are consistently entertaining and never boring. I show it to people at least once a year.

This is very much just plain mental illness, but if you want to use it to justify being annoyed at all Americans in general, more power to you I guess.
The CD Key written on the CD was a very famous infinite license key that pretty much everyone who had a pirated copy of windows was using. You also used to need to reformat more often for a clean wipe of your computer, so many people got used to entering this specific key.
Hello fellow Longmonster! Nextlight is life!
Turns out you can click the link and find out! It links to a very short Bluesky post! Try it out! Lemmy has more than just headlines!
I mean, there are absolutely things that you should do just to improve your approachability. Good hygiene, to start.
Depression is definitely a factor for many people. But the death of 3rd spaces is fairly well documented. The problem is that many people don’t know how to make friends. Friends very rarely happen instantly, they usually are a result of repeated and consistent interactions. Adults rarely seek out situations that would give them those types of interactions outside of work and school.
Chess is a war game. Killing and violence in general are devastating. It’d be interesting to compare the brain activity of a murderer with a grandmaster player. I have my suspicions about what we would see.
Kung Fury is a self aware satire/homage. Breen is just incredible insanity.
That’s fair, but for awhile that setting only worked on desktop, and various apps still may or may not respect the setting. I’ve never encountered someone who enjoys this being on be default.
It’s obviously not great for the type of community that’s about knowledge sharing and learning, and it does suck that a lot of communities went there.
But it’s a great platform for simple social servers that are just about communicating. It’s super easy to sign up and set up a server. A lot of it just works well for chat.
Them going public probably puts a timer on the service though, so if it happens Discord probably just will get worse.
Long cat! He looks just like mine.
14-15 pounds is huge for a cat. 8-12 is average.
Everyone has different thresholds for action. When you’re talking about replacing your entire professional toolset, it might make sense that they were resistent.
I think the way we consume news has gotten incredibly unhealthy. The rush to know things as fast as possible has lowered the quality of news, and mixing the news into your entertainment feed of the entire day might be weird for our brain.
I feel you though. There’s shitty things happening in the world and it doesn’t seem like it’s helpful to anyone for me to know about every little instance. I wish I could just get detailed stories for local news, and just get general stats for national stuff.
I do agree, but the thing that really defines your worldview is what you think the ratio of “good” to “bad” people are, along with how much you think people can change.
Personally, I think a lot of humans are largely interested in maintaining the status quo and avoiding large amounts of change. That doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re bad or evil or unredeemable, it just means that they’re influenced by the systems that we’ve built and take comfort in what is known.
Be careful of diving too far into cynicism. Why would you try to change anything if you think it’s impossible? Understand that the world is frustrating sometimes and give grace whenever you can when people make mistakes (as long as you make it clear when boundaries are crossed).
First time I bought condoms, I also bought goldfish crackers.
Sure … but a single donut?
Honestly the process for getting reimbursed is annoying enough that I’m only going to do it for stuff that’s more than $10. I don’t need to be reimbursed often though
The US adult population is something like 260 million, and Trump has like 73 million votes.
Tons of those people also had to deal with votor suppression, and I even had to manually cure my ballot this year because my “signature didn’t match” supposedly (as did 5 other people I know who dropped off at the same location).
We’ve also been under a huge amount of propaganda and some people are literally living in separate realitites where their enemies are ridiculous evil characatures.
Like… I get it. It’s hard to feel good towards America right now, and lots of those people who didn’t vote deserve a lot of this blame. But is it really that rational to throw the rest of America under the bus?
At the very least, just help the people around you. Just be a person and participate in your community. You don’t need to put a bunch of time and energy into political activism, but work done to help local communities is never wasted.
Giving feedback is the first step to contributing.
