U.S. launches large-scale strikes on ISIS targets across Syria

AFAB. It got easier after I figured myself out more and treated underlying anxiety issues. I don’t think it had to do with gender but I don’t know. Some of those anxieties are exasperated or influenced by cultural factors and social roles of course. So, I suppose it depends on where those feelings and stopgaps are on an individual level to some degree. That being said, I find trans people’s experiences particularly enlightening on these topics as many have seen both sides of the coin and then some. I hope some of you guys can chime in here.

The archive.org link above is partially a workbook to help people figure out where to start with these things too with considering personal abilities and needs… There are so many options!! !citizenscience@mander.xyz too, is a form of praxis through the building of public knowledge, skills and to help inform policy. No matter what happens, there’s always something to do.

Get involved and build resilience in your local community. It’s super beneficial for your mental health, social health and you can do something tangible that does make a difference. This resilience will help build and maintain and more importantly sustain the structural and social support for things like general strikes. It’s quite literally grounding in practice and people always need to eat. It’s a place to meet people that also care.

It’s a materialist approach to deconstruct what it means. It’s always good to seek where information is coming from, who is saying it and why, otherwise it is easy to fall into reactionary behaviour ripe for and often bred from misunderstandings. In this case:

The slogan has historically been contextualized as a reaction to the U.S. government’s policies towards Islamic countries and merely an expression of outrage at those policies, not a wish for literal death for American people themselves.[13] In a speech to university students, Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei interpreted the slogan as “death to the U.S.'s policies, death to arrogance”.[14]

In other words… Before reacting to inflammatory phrases, it’s important to understand their actual meaning, cultural context, and who’s using them and why - things often get misunderstood across language/cultural barriers. America could certainly use the humility and self reflection.
