It’s better than Season 8, which is of course just about the lowest bar in existence, but worth noting when talking GoT.

The plot was kind of just a borderline uninteresting version of Downton Abbey with way more blood and incest, but the characters felt correct for the world and the acting and production was on point. Definitely worth a watch, but just don’t expect it to be anything on the level of Seasons 1-4 of the original show.

You got all that when you didn’t even finish the first episode? Damn, you are a tough audience.

I thought the show was pretty decent. It wasn’t literally perfect, but it was entertaining and beautifully shot. Some of the acting was kinda underwhelming, but some others did a great job IMO.

Especially Morfydd Clark, Joseph Mawle, and Ismael Cruz Córdova as Galadriel, Adar, and Arondir, respectively. Sophia Nomvete as Disa gave one of my favorite performances yet of a Dwarven character, and I enjoyed her scenes immensely.

I’ll probably rewatch that show more often than I will the Hobbit movies, which makes it a solid entry by my reckoning, and it’s okay that it wasn’t perfect.

Wasn’t that the Loki show, where all of time is run by a boring dystopian corporate bureaucracy?

There’s nobody over 65 who is a good political leader. Nobody under 65 is a bad political leader. Everyone immediately turns into a useless chump on their 65th birthday. They should all be puréed into a drink to sustain the rest of us.

Windows 11 is technically still Windows 10, if you go by the actual version reported by the systeminfo command. For example, my fully updated Windows 11 Pro VM reports itself as OS Version: 10.0.22631, so there might still be something to the idea that “Windows 10 is the last version” but the marketing and branding teams didn’t stay on the same message.

You kid, but I really do find this stereotype of Americans fascinating in it’s persistence. Every supermarket I’ve been to in America during the last decade has a tea section that is double the size of the coffee section next to it. These stores wouldn’t be stocking like that if Americans weren’t buying a ton of tea, but yet the idea of America being a tea desert continues.

They kinda do already; Apple sells a twisted piece of metal for $1k, and people buy it from them.

I wish capitalism was removed.

Every time I try KDE again, it feels so cluttered and all over the place with extra buttons everywhere and things scattered all about. So I go through pages and pages of customizations and settings to tame it into something that isn’t hideously distracting, and… I realize that I’ve made it look pretty much like Gnome would with a couple of extensions and way less effort, so I go back to Gnome. 🤷

He’s got a funny way of accomplishing that goal. So funny that it looks like his goal is exactly the opposite. GENIUS!

I’ve also recently started using this extension, and it’s incredible by comparison. Despite the name being “Simple”, it feels way more advanced than Chrome’s half-hearted attempt at tab groups.

I usually interpret the phrase “drop in” to mean that the replacement being referenced will also work with everything written for the original. Does “drop in” in this case mean that Immich will transparently replace Google Photos, similar to how libretube replaces YouTube? That would be amazing!

My doctor’s weird video chat doesn’t work in Firefox (and even in Chrome it’s barely functional probably because it hasn’t been updated since before the pandemic), but other than that singular example, everything else works fine. I think most people parroting complaints about Firefox just haven’t used it recently enough to realize that it’s fine in 99.9% of cases.

Honestly, they often still are more annoying, IMO. After all, it’s not often that you see a Windows user being snobby about their OS, generally it’s just used by default because of work or it came with their PC and they haven’t bothered changing, or gaming.

Thankfully gaming on Linux is almost better than on Windows these days, it’s exciting to see!

I’m not sure that it’s inconceivable to scientists that interesting buildings existed half a million years ago, but there is a lack of evidence of that, so findings like this one are important.

Spam is just pork and ham mixed with some salt and sugar, I don’t see how that’s not “real food”, people all over the planet have eaten those things as food for thousands of years before someone had the audacity to …put it in a can for convenient distribution.
